Hi all I just wanna know if genestealer are worth spending points on??? I think that I've heard something about they just being shot to pierces before they actually gets in cc.
I like the model but doesn't wanna waste pts on them in battles if they are not worth it
They can be good, but you need to know how to use them.
You would never charge them at an enemy all by themselves. They will be shot to peices.
do note that the advice a lot of people are given you know is based on the current 3rd edition codex which will be obsolete in aboyt 2 months.
In the new codex the genestealers are becoming better with better saves and other items to aid hem.
I also heard that the genestealers may get FoC to replace infiltration in the new codex.
Any way you really just have to use them intelligently and keep them behind cover.
That has been confirmed by those who have seen the new codex, genestealers lose inflitrate and gain FoF.I also heard that the genestealers may get FoC to replace infiltration in the new codex.
The Broodlord can be accopmanied by a brood of genestealers and these will replace FoF by infiltrate
also genestealers get a lot of new optinos, like acid maw, feeder tendrils ( confers "preferred enemy" to nids nearby )
They are worth it....trust me! It's like having 2 Hive Tyrants - in only 1 squad! WS 6 means 3+ hit, I 6 means first go! 3 attacks each means 36 rending attacks! Str. 4/5 means 3/2+ wound on normal guys! Don't ever, EVER forget those rending claw attacks, they help alot!

By the way what is the point with infiltrate if they can't attack from the start... they have to start at least 12" which is more than they can charge most other units with infiltrate can shoot in the first round... i know that it will make them able to charge in round two and take out a vehicle or some troops but as I see it they will just attrac a lot of fire in round one but it might be me who see it the wrong way
Anyway I don't have a lot of terrain in my fights couze me and my friends have just started and I'm the only one who actually will benefit from terrain so I think that I'll wait using my genestealers
I figure that infiltrating Genestealers are best as a deterent or a way to force your opponent to act in a certain way. Seeing a squad of Genestealers 12" - 18" away gives the opponent two generally good options: avoid the Genestealers by moving further away or shoot them. Knowing that his options have become limited can benefit your army in other ways. Of course, I have yet to manage to use Genestealers in any particularily effective way. . .Originally Posted by ArakiazFind a way to get them to use more terrain anyway. Just because you are the only one that will benefit from more terrain doesn't mean that you should never benefit, since they benefit immensely from having little terrain. Also, stand and shoot armies able to always see everything on the board are boring. Games are much more interesting when both sides are forced to maneuver.Anyway I don't have a lot of terrain in my fights couze me and my friends have just started and I'm the only one who actually will benefit from terrain so I think that I'll wait using my genestealers
Suggest a game with plenty of terrain, just to get them to at least try it once. You could also suggest that the amount of terrain pieces be random.

Personally i dont like using genestealers too much but they are worth it as long as you can get them into close combat. They are really good for huge things like monstrous creatures, but you know alot of other things can be givin' rending claws. Like raveners, lictors have them, and warriors are good for using the scything rending combo. But genestealers are worth it but personally i think they are pretty over rated, and you could always play genestealer cult if you like them that much.
Genestealers:Good in CC, and die easily, they are bad for swarming really. If you have enough fire power with your fexes or something else, then dont use them.
Gaunts:Not very powerful in CC, and even worst in shooting, but swarm to make sure of a decent amount of killz. Gaunts are way better for swarming and letting your opponent know that you have tons and are gonna eat their head off. Although genestealers are pretty good for distracting for shots, but then again so are gaunts. Genestealers just die really easy, and well so do gaunts, but there are ussually more of them. Soon with the new rules, leaping gaunts are going to be faster then the genestealers.
Soooo really it depends on what strategie your going for or what you like better, and if you just want to add some in just add a squad of 10 or so, and they can do some damage depending on how you play them.
