Human Auxiliaries should generally only be used in a Farsight army where you are denied access to kroot mercenaries, and then only sparingly. They really serve no function that either kroot or firewarrior can't do better. The only real reason to employ them is for fluff and conversion reasons, as you can make pretty good looking models. However, tactically, they are not worth the money or points investment in my opinion.
Equip with EMP 'nades and kamikaze them towards enemy armour. Of course, that's hella expensive and XV-88s and hammerhead are there too so....yea....they're useless.
Record as of 26 December for my Static Tau Cadre.
10 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw.
Last game: Victory over Necron in a 600 point "kill em all" that lasted til turn 10 ending with a phase out.
isn't that Farsight thing that give unit 1+ WS and 1+ charictoristic a good way to boost humans or is not worth 3 pts
The Farsight Ork Fighter Upgrade is only usable on Tau units, which include stealth suits, crisis suits, pathfinders, and firewarriors. It can not be used on the Gue'vesa'la.
But to give you an idea, it would increase the WS and I to Marine level, but on a guy with lower strength, toughness and saves, while only being cheaper by four points than one, but more expensive than firewarriors, only less well armed. Not worth it.
I think the orc fighter upgrade would be good if you wanted to boost your battle suits up some. You can use broadsides in a Oshava army cant you and the orc fighter plus the smart missles and rail guns seems like it would make your Broadside more survivable if an army like Tyranids decided to swarm it.
I have yet to see a good reason to use the Humans, I think kroot are a better investment (unless of couse you play farsight)
- Lower Strength
- Lower WS
- Less attacks
- when getting shot at there not much of a diffrence between 5+ and no save at all
- Kroot get fieldcraft (which is insane if you can use it right)
When you think about FW bring the same thing to the table stats wise and a better gun, a WS 2 and 3 isnt really that diffrent, how often are you assualted by I3 units? Anything higher and there still going last. use Etheral for Ld, better save, better gun (kinda, just a bit),
The only time I could see somebody using them is in a small group supporting FW. Giving them EMP nades is an intresting idea. Only thing that separtes them from kroot.
Personally I think Farsight has too many drawbacks for his points and abilities, Aun'shi grants his FW retinue better abilities for free.
If you do play farsight the only reason you only use Ork figher on his body guards. Right there you have a solid all around CC team (basically marines). Just watch out for Powerfists.
Who brings a Hammerhead to a 500 point fight?!

Human auxilliaries have comparable stats to IG, and probably lower, still
armed with the same weapons, they fight along the tau side. I dislike using
them because of the "traitor rule"
I alternativly use larger squads of kroot to replace this. Beef up a squad
of kroot with shaper (dont pay for extra points) its not worthwhile. This
option will be more valuable to your army.
If you do wish to place a human auxilliaries squad in your tau army
Only select one to minimize losses.
Any more questions just ask.

The thing is that the Human Auxileries are dirt cheap and if you cant use kroot then they are good, especialy since they have a higher armor save than kroot.
Where are the rules for getting human auxilaries?
