Welcome to Librarium Online!
A friend of mine sold me some Termagents with the flesh borers already glued in; I don't really feel the need to ever play Termagents because I find spinegaunts are much more effective especially because they can AP the little things I are trying to take out with them (orcs, and necron scarabs) where the termagents aren't effective against either and cost more.
So I am wondering what kind of conversions you guys have done or seen to turn termagents into gargolyes. The only one I have seen there was a guy who added little sheets of plastic to make wings and he had Gargolyes that looked like bumble bees. Are there better ways/easier ways/ or ways you have made the conversions?
Honestly I think insect wings are much more appropriate and original for Tyranids than bat wings... demons have bat wings but that's fine because they're based on mammals. Tyranids are six-limbed bugs. :p I'm planning on making wings for my second Hive Tyrant... gonna take some Mylar, green stuff, toothpicks and a sharpie and make me a big-ass set of wasp wings.
someone told me that you can use the scything talons as frames for wings then use green stuff to make the wings.
<-- that room over there in my avatar is full of people who think you are funny...BURN...

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Tyranid Gargoyles should be fairly easy to convert from plastic Gaunts:
Leaping Gaunt body
Model the wings using the ScyTal as the frame and GStuff for the wing membrane. GStuff can be exchanged with transparent plastic for a more insect-like effect.
Glue the wings on the back and the FBorer in the arm sockets.
Model Bioplasma by sticking a bit of GStuff in the mouth.
Paint it and glue on the flying stand (or use wire and a regular base), and You have a plastic Gargoyle!
From a single Gaunt box You'd get 8 Gargs, 8 Spinegaunts, and a Ripper Swarm! And they're approximately 2/3 the cost of buying 4 Garg blisters to boot! =)
The reason for using the Leaping bodies is because the ScyTal are used to make the wings... If You can make alternate wings, feel free to use the regular walking bodies.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
Another question about Converting gargoyles. Is it going to be worth it when the new codex comds out? I hear termagents are getting better, spinegaunts may get twin linked (hence more expensive) and one person said that gargoyles may go up in pointcost to like 12, which is still a steal, because it should be 15 point model based on the conversions it has. So I was wondering if other people thought gargoyles would be NERFed with the new codex, or if I should go ahead and sacrifice my only eight termagents to get some gargs?
I think that gargoyles will still be a damn good unit for what they cost.
DEfinetly gonna get another brood of them.
Well I just made the conversion and set up a picture in the gallery.
They are the standard termagent with the base replaced with a flying base, and wings cut from plastic card protectors with hot glue melted into the to make the wings appear to have bones or joints where they need to be tougher.
hey uzi, do you have any pictures of your gargoyles? i'd like to see how they look. maybe i'll make some

Guess I should try to get some pics of my own converted gargoyles up
