You sound like a goth player. For that, you'll want:
-Warboss (No mega armour)
-Boyz sets, good.
-Grots; unless you are rich, get the old style grots off of ebay for 10 a penny.
Those are the very basics of a goff army. From there, just add more boyz, grots, some warbuggies for distracting: look around the site for some excellent faqs.
Warbikes are generally very fragile and easily killed for their points. Some people swear by them, but I hate them personally. They also tend to be fairly hard to use effectively, so if you're just starting out...
If you do insist on a warboss in mega armour (in which case speed freeks would be better) then the Ghazgull Thraka model is very cool, and not extortionately priced.
You also need the codex for model point costs.
Lastly, welcome to the WAAAGH!
Grots are good?I just see the stats and rule and i don't know why could it be good.
Can i know before buying what do a mega armor,if you can say it.
Warbuggie seen kool,if i could know the total of a squad of 3,it could help me Is the wartrak better than the buggies or is only the weapon that change?
I'm one of those that swear by Warbikes. I've only used them once, but i've had them running down my Space Pups several times.
Shoot: 30 S5 twin-linked shots for ten bikers.
Charge: 30 *more* S5 twin-linked shots that strike before the enemy.
'nuff said. ^_^

I never leave home with out a screen of grotz. They are 3 points each and are ment for one thing and one thing only. To die. a 18 grot screen with slaver and squig hound is 68 points. For every grot that dies thats one less wound on your orks. Swamp em is a great Idea to start with but expand it Kans are well worthe their points. I was in your shioes a few months ago but after trying diffrent things i found that it looks cool and would be hella fun to paly.
Get the codex- its basically a necessity for playing, let alone army making.Originally Posted by virus646
Whilst trying not to say anything illegal, I think I can tell you that mega armour gives you a very good save, free Power Klaw and nice shooty weapon, but every move you make counts as being difficult terrain. Its point cost is fairly priced.
Its very nice for KoS, because you dont move much on your own (trukks do all the moving for you) however for footsloggers you need to get krumpin ASAP
I'm sure you could pick up a codex on Ebay for not too much. Incidental point, players, about copyright law- its legal for us to give out whole point costs of units, but not individual models, wargear, etc. Couldnt you quite easily, via crossreferencing army lists, get the whole list of points? Not that I encourage you to do so, Virus- the codex is a nice thing to have anyway and considering how long that would take (and the legality??) Its better just to buy the codex.
Grots: Now grots are invaluable. They die a bit easier than boyz, but they cost 1/3 of the points and you can have LOTS of them. They give 1/3 cover saves to you boyz, and as they both drop most of the time from a hit and a wound, thats 1/3 more boyz that will get to the enemy. If your enemy ignores them and, i dunno, scoots someone round the back to shoot your ork mob, then thats a LOT of attacks on the charge from a 'harmless' unit
Bikes, I can see what their use would be in higher point games, but as I always play 1k, they take away from too many boyz/trukks for my liking.
I dont think wartraks are any different from buggies.
in samller point games the WB ni mega arumor wont do well alone. You should mount him in a trukk with 5 otehr nobs how ever this gets pricty and should be saved for 1850 games or 2000
Don't worry i will buy the codex but from GW price , i can't buy online,i don't have credit card. I think i should buy it today or tomorrow.
Now im decide,i sell my sm army because i don't have enough money to buy a squad and a codex, i have 1200 pts of sm,should be enough for begining ork.
Maybe i,m wrong about the rule but isin't only the tank and difficult terrain that block LOS?I think is you need to do a CD test for shooting behind the more near unit?
Difficult terrain doesnt necessarily block LoS, though some like jungles might if they're big enough (not sure how much, rulebook NA atm) Tanks do, and impassable terrain does. Really, its just common sense in regards to LoS- obviously firing through a cliff wouldnt work, but through long grass would be fine.
Don't underestimate grots as objective grabbers either. A ten man squad is only like 40 points. Just hide, then make a run for a table quater.
