okay, here goes. I typically play against a chaos player who is VERY enthusiastic about Terminators, obliterators, and defilers. He takes the bare minimum in troops and spends all of his points on a dozen terminators, 3 obliterators, a beefed up chaos lord and heavy support. He then proceeds to deep strike his forces and pound my troops. I play a hybrid mech/static army with:
1 Crisis Team
1 Stealth team
3 FW Squads (2 in Devilfish)
I use anti-marine configuration crisis suits (plasma/fusion/multitracker)
I barely beat him last time because his obliterators went off the map, but I'm afraid that he'll add assault daemons to his army. This makes me fear for my crisis team and stealth team. I just cannot kill enough of his Heavy support and lord at range (indirect fire/ invulnerable saves) and when his heavy units deep strike, they wipe out whole squads or tanks.
The worst part is, even with a huge volume of firepower, there is no way I can kill off enough of his deep strikers in time. They move and assault next turn, and it all goes down from there..... Daemons will make it even worse!!!

My chaos-killing record is pretty bad.. 1 win 4 losses.
The one time I won was just pure luck, he infiltrated with his lord, which I shot at with stealthsuits and caused a wound. A little nervous about the 2+ save I left the suits there to get charged, so that he wouldn't be charing something more important. Of course, he did charge me (Tau are horrible in close combat) and I killed it due to having Initiative 10.
I would say, pack all your stuff fairly close together, so that if he does deep strike on top of you there's a good chance he'll scatter onto one f your units and die. If he doesn't take the chance and deep strikes away from you, he'll be away from you. Everything being close should be able to allow you to focus almost everything's firepower on the deepstrikers and hopefully get rid of them.
I'm not sure what defilers do. Do they have ordanance? That'd kinda mess up that plan..
Yeah, defilers have ordnance. Can be upgraded to fire indirectly, too.
That's . . . not what you wanted to hear, is it?
thank you and good night
