Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was wondering what you all think is the best tactic in using the monolith agianst the following armies?
tyranids, eldar, SM, and chaos SM with slannesh(sp?)
the nids i do ok agianst but always have trouble with the big guys.
the others im not totally sure b/c i just got the lith.
any thoughts and strategies would and will be greatly appreciated.
you should have no trouble with the eldar if you park your monolith in the center of his army and blast the **** out of anything that gets to close and thier is at least one thread that deals with taking out the wraith lords. you may want destroyers for eldar.
For space marines Spyders can be effective and so can phariahs if you use a monolith. You may also think about wraiths or scarabs to tie up those pesky heavy weapon units.
For chaos you do the same except for those Deamon Princes, and Lutienets or what ever they are dangerous check out the the thread How To Deal With This under necrons
Nids you want warriors and some heavy destroyers or regular destroyers maybe even a ctan to deal with the Hive tyrants and large creature since you can always "shoot the big ones."
Just hope that there's no Singing Spears, Witchblades, Haywaire Grenades, or Wraithcannons nearby or your blasting is going to be cut short.Originally Posted by Deek

he normally takes 2, and the chaos guy also uses korne guys. sometime both korne and slenesh with some specail leader that allows them to work together. man i hate that army
If he is using both, the Mark of Khorne and the Mark of Slaanesh on his leader, he is cheating. The codex clearly states that a character, that leads the army, with either Mark, cannot include unit types from the other Mark (nor can he have both Marks at the same time). Can you clarify what "special leader" he is using that allows them to work together?Originally Posted by frogman26
Only the Mark of Chaos Undivided (or no Mark at all) would allow him to field both Khorne and Slaanesh troops (as elites).

A unit with the mark of Nurgle or Tzeentch could also include both Khorne and Slaanesh troops (since Nurgle would just restrict Tzeentch, and Tzeentch would just restrict Nurgle). They'd both be elites, but he could field both of them.
I would assume that the "special leader" is Abaddon the Despoiler.
thank you and good night

can u force ppl to lose coherency by dropping a 'lith on them?
also, in the faq i mentions reserves while the 'lith deep strikes, and the lith drop in, then send out a load of wrriors?
also, im not exactly sure how deep strike works caan someone help me with that? can u shoot, move or assault after ds?
well when u deep strike, on the unit they move away 1" so the unit doesnt lose coherency. and i dont no what the hell u tried saying on the rest. and the rules on deep strike can be found in a rule book or ask the gamesworkshop guys.Originally Posted by Tunisia
