    Questions about USF

(I took that quote from another thread)

I would like to know that myself.
I don't think they can because a Wraithgate is activated by a model during the shooting phase, so any models that arrive from the gate would still be free to assault the minute they arrive, but would have missed the shooting phase already.

    Is that interpretation right?

From what i've read in various places, (I'm not getting the codex till sat) the gate is set in the shooting phase as you said. However, the Ulthwé reserves come through in the next Ulthwé movement phase, i.e in the next turn. Any reserves in any army, count as moving the turn they arive, so Reapers would not be able to shoot their guns. I think that normal reserves are not allowed to assault either, but i'm not sure if there is an exeption for the Strike force.

That is how we play it at our club, not that we would ever send Reapers through the wraithgate anyway when they can just deploy as normal and BLAP from the table edge.

I agree with you that they cannot move anymore; after all, the webway strike group would appear during the shooting phase; but, unless someone can prove to me very clearly that this is not so, I still believe that they are allowed to assualt in the same round that they arrived.
Having to stand around for one turn before being able to do anything would make a seemingly difficult army list seem even more difficult to play with.

A webway gate functions exactly like a small bit of table edge, and reserves enter from that webway gate exactly as normal reserves enter from a normal table edge.

So, the reserves are obviously moving - therefore Dark Reapers cannot shoot, having Heavy weapons. Also, the reserves can assault, since nothing stops normal reserves assaulting on the turn they arrive.

The main strategy of a wraithgate are to use assault troopers. Reapers are basically a complete waste of points to use in a wraithgate because that's a min of 3 turns they cant fire

What you wanna do is put your wraithlords and banshees in a wraithgate (and hopefully have them all pass reserve rolls the turn before or that turn) so when they come through they ALL come through at once. It's similar to the DE strategy with 3 squads of wyches

A Wraithlord charge, that would be great. Except that you're not allowed do it!
You can only field War Walkers and Vipers in a USF, no other vehicles or WLs.

    New Question

Can an USF army list include Phoenix Lords, or just a single Farseer for that matter, as an HQ choice?

under IAL, pheonix lords yes, and independant farseer, no.

    heh i wish..

    as for the gate question....
in my really late post.. its all the way in the back..

some people said yes, reapers could come out of gate and fire..

as when you come out of gate you can..

    move-> shoot then assault.

or else, how would any of our hth survive?

gate would have to be 6'' close to the enemy? since you can only 'assault'? not move?
    no place to hide?

nebulas and a few others.. say that reapers can come out turn 2 and.. fire..
    but iono...
