Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey I was thinking why do they post the stat improvements for the battle suits in the front of the codex? What would be cool is if you had a pick of guys that you could put in battle suits like maybe ethreal, fire warrior, veteran, or something like that and then the type of suit and wearer determines if they are HQs or Elites. I mean that would be so nice to have an ethreal in a stealth suit! Give them a amor save and stealth. The thing might be expensive but so worth it.
Perhaps not the Ethereal but Veterans and Commanders. It would be pretty neat to have a Shas'el with Stealth armor or normal Firewarrior armor. Which is compleatly possible, though not at all effective. If you Add / Remove 10-20 points and Add / Remove Stat modifications from the model then you have your Armoured Ethereal or Armourless Shas'el...
But take my word for it, The combinations is not at all as good as they seem.
Remember remember the fifth of November... Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason... Should ever be forgot...- = Always watching = -

It seems like a logical next step I mean if they have it printed in there but you can't do it yet. The good thing about this would you could maybe have a cc crisis with an ethreal, a dirt cheap suit with maybe just fire warrior team leader, or something like what there is now.
I think a shas'o/el in a stealth suit would be 75p/50p respectively. if you wanted to throw them in fw armour and give them pulse carbines then 55p/30p sounds about right. a 30p independent character could be extremely useful in small fights. cool idea. i'm going to test it out.
So you pick the suits from the wargear entry? Sounds good! Especially with the new (well not that new now) suits from Forgeworld! Should that include broadside armour?
The avatar is the emperor as a pimp. Well, i like it.
i think if you were going to include broadsides they would have to be pretty expensive. just think of a shas'o bs5 str10 shot at 72''...thats just a bit crazy
No the broad side would not be included or it would have a varrying cost depending on the wearer.
The Tau are about uniformity. While it would be nice to have a Shas'o in XV15 armor it wouldn't fit the fluff. To have suits that are designed differently for each wearer wouldn't work for a modern logistics standpoint. Mass produce a lot of suits or custom tailor the suit to the weared? What happens if the suit is damaged beyond repair? The guy inside is SOL. There are only firewarriors in those suits, they are not robots. An ethereal for all intensive purposes is a general. In what army does a general get down and dirty with their troops. They are observing the battle and making decisons. That takes a lot of concentration. Now imagine that while trying to aim and fire a burst cannon, pilot a jetpack, and dodge bullets. A Shas'o can do it because of his decades of exsperince. A Aun is much political and does not have time for this.
