I have some interests in the devourers of the universe XD.
And have been conducting a few researches about nids.. and happen to stumble on the seeding variant of nids.
does anyone here play them?
Is it a worthwhile variant? or should i keep on with the standard nid force ??
its actually a pretty cool army. genestealers (super genestealers at that) can deepstrike directly into combat, gaunts can be given without number and everything gets a lot closer to the enemy a lot faster.
but it is a bit risky as deepstrike inherently is and you are only allowed to deepstrike everything in battle missions (ie the ones in the back of the BG not in standard missions, so in some ways its pretty useless.
I play a seeding swarm nid army. It's worthwhile to try out and is the only good army strategy where shooting gaunts are effective(especially against armies with an armor sv of 5 or higher). Most Nid armies usually are made the same so seeding swarms are a fun variant to use.
Where are the rules for seeding swarm army? I've heard a lot about it and can't find anything.
<-- that room over there in my avatar is full of people who think you are funny...BURN...

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
the rules for Seeding swarm are printed in WD256 and Chapter Approved 2003
WD255, in North America.
the seeding swarm is deepstriking cheese
its only realy good for charectorful games at the start of campains
hope fully they will go in the new codex or will be made sencible
Only in Battles does the entire army deepstrike. Any other type of mission and most of the army starts on the ground.Originally Posted by ammedie
according to GW they will release PDf file on their site on the new Seeding swarm after the codex has been released.
It's not in the codex for sure.
The Seeding Swarm rules are also in 2004 Annual (UK + territories(?)) and CA 2004 (rest of the world). The current version has some problems with the 4thEd rules, so waiting until GW releases the update is most certainly a good call.
