I have 3 armies for WH40k... but none of them perform well at 1000 points.
Space Marines: too boring, everyone plays them.
Saim-Hann: always loses - it works at 400pts and 1500pts, just not at 1000 for some reason.
Khornate Chaos: far too uncontrolled. :rolleyes:
So, I was wondering about wheeling out the Tau, which no-one seems to play round my area, and I need a hand to create a killer list. Heres what I've come up with so far:
Shas'el - fusion blaster, missile pod, 2 shield drones
Bodyguard - TL fusion blaster, 2 more shield drones =194
Stealth Team (6), bonded = 190
9 Fire Warriors + Shas'ui = 120
9 Fire Warriors + Shas'ui = 120
Pathfinders - 7 plus Shas'ui, 3 rail rifles, bonded = 236
Hamerhead - Ion cannon, seeker missile, multi-tracker = 140
= 1000 points exactly
The commander & his mate go tank hunting, the pathfinders & hammerhead go heavy-infantry or light-vehicle hunting. Fire warriors provide covering fire, along with the stealth team.
Any thoughts? :unsure:

Nice start, although I'd drop the Pathfinders.
Don't get me wrong, Pathfinders have their use, but I think thier just too specialized for a 1000 pt list.
Since this is an army list you should of posted it in the army list forum, the administrators would probably move it.
but a few things:
Pathfiners- why take them, they are to expensive and have little or nor cool abilities to make them 12 points, also if you were to take pathfiners they would be mobile scouts, why wiegh them down with heavy weapons.
Hammerhead- ion cannon? only take this if you are playing only necrons or marine armies, but other then that the hammerhead is you tank hunter and should have the rail gun
crisis suits- assuming that you get rid of the pathfinders, add on more crisis suit with TL fusion blasters. give the Shas'el sheild generator, and his third crisis suit two sheild rones assuming that you take him, and always always multi tracker.
etheral- consider this models, you have expensive suits you dont want them running away either bond them or add the etheral, you might say that he dies but if you hide him in cover and behind stuff he should be helpful, also since you have sheild drones they do count as 25% shooting causualties so your suits might run.

I would say drop the pathfinders and get more trooops!
Lose the pathfinders, get some XV-15s. Consider some Kroot too if you've never played with them. It depends on the commander, but I personally always bring a unit of Kroot in 1000 point or lower games.
Record as of 26 December for my Static Tau Cadre.
10 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw.
Last game: Victory over Necron in a 600 point "kill em all" that lasted til turn 10 ending with a phase out.
Drop the pathfinders for another squad of fire warriors and a squad of kroot and the list will be perfect.
Chaos - 11W 0L 0D
Orks - 8W 0L 0D
Tyranids - 8W 0L 0D
pathfinders don't belong in 1000p. you should lose the bodyguard. in 1000p i would take:
1 ethereal/aun'shi, 0-1 shas'el, 1-2 crisis (separated and without drones so you don't take all alone tests), 4-6 stealth, 30-36 fire warriors, railhead. and either 10-18 kroot or 8 gun drones.
this is what you need for 1000p.
I would have to agree, get rid of the pathfinders, but keep the devilfish for some lucky fw! It really helps the mobility of them. I would also include Aun shi, over an ethereal (look at the spelling!) Also, your commander with a fusion blaster and missile pod is a little unbalanced... i reckon a fusion blaster, plasma rifle and burst cannon with hd. wired multi tracker and drone controller with some sheild drones. A bit excessive, but it works for me!!!! Hes called the marine command squad killer!!!! tee hee...
