How come no tau grenades actually explode and hurt people??? even the pinning ones from carbines? It just seemed a little weird. And there was nothing else to talk about on this forum...

I actually think the photon grenades are some of the best grenades out there it's just the tau are so bad at close combat that it doesn't matter, they still lose. What would be nice is if the battle suits could maybe have an option to have maybe a drone that could toss those while the suit fights. That would make them worth while especially in an O'shavah army! The EMP grenades also are great. Aren't they close to meltabombs?

Yeah, EMP grenades kick ass. Photon actually have a strength of 4 (+ 1d6 for armour pen) Sais so in the 4:th Ed Rulebook - same page as the walker rules are at.... Not so much for grenade but at least it enables firewarriors to glance an AV 10 vehicle (even if only at the rear) wich is good.
Also, Farsight Enclave DON'T use drones... (read special rules)
Now here is a tricky question for YOU! yes YOU! When you take a good look at your firewarriors you might hve used a wide range of combinations. You have Pulsecarbines and Pulserifles, you have Helmet or "no-helmet", there are 5 different antennas for the head and even Photongrenades and... EMP grenades? or is perhaps an auspex? WADDYA THINK? ist the little gadjet with 2 small antennas:
A: some kind of auspex or similar...
B: an EMP grenade...
After surfing the net for a wile I tremble over some pictures of the development of TAU for DoW - Dawn of War - Where the EMP grenade icon looks exactly like the "little gadjet" that fills no oher funtion than if it would be an EMP grenade.

I had a fire warrior squad assault an Eldar Falcon which had stopped because it was between to terrain features with a devilfish to it's front. The fire warrior squad only had three EMP grenades on it, and all other Tau anti-tank units were out, broadsides and hammerheads were already out of the game. They hit and crushed the Falcon on only three tries, whew they were really the only unit left on the board that could do it as the stealth suit weapons are only S5.
Putting a few (more then three though!) EMP's in two squads of FW's is definitely a good idea.
i thought you have to buy grenades for the enitre squad not just X amount of guys?
ZombieKiller is right EMP or Photon grenades are an all or none option for FW, same with all other armies and their grenades.
Bought the grenades for two squads, but only three FW were in range of the tank to hit it. So only got to use three grenade attacks.
Tau Hunter Cadre, Eldar Saim Hann, Eldar Ranger, Kroot Mercs
Personaly, I wouldn't use EMP grenades on FW. FW are too valuble. Human Aux on the other hand...
