im sorry, i might seem like a bit of a n00b asking this, but r any of the elites any good, other thn flayed ones?
pariahs r just crazily expensive and un necron, so im pretty certain that they r bad
immortals; 10 pts /model extra over a warrior, for 1 toughness and a slightly stronger gun? is it worth it? how useful are they, from experience?
flayed ones: i think their Visage ability could b useful, but apparently it never works. i think they'd work well with lord, w'scythe and gaze of flame, but then that would completely negate their D/S, infiltrate, move through cover etc. also, then if the opponent failed the Visage check they'd all attack the lord. FOs dont seem to b particularly good at cc ne way, only one more attack compared to warriors, and a better initiative, which is still pretty poor for a cc specialised unit.
I don't personally play pariahs/flayed ones.
But immortals are great against any army that isnt powered armored. A full sqaud pumps out 20 str 5 shots that will destroy any tank or kill an entire squad of men. Plus they have that extra poinbt of T so can only not get a wbb role from shooting from a str. 10 shot. Their gun is also assault which helps with the necrons short ranged guns.
Pariahs are good against these new termies since you can say bye bye to their tough armor in cc, but they have to survive and get there first
i agree, in comparison to the awesomesess of necron fast attack and heavy support choices, the elites just dont seem to be able to find a place in my army. pariahs fufill a very specific niche, an are incredibly expensive. flayed ones just aren't numerous enough or have enough armor cutting to do anything. immortals role is essentialy the same as warriors, however warriors are better for cheaper, and you're taking them anyway.
i'll probably play tau and orks most, so i think i should probably get a few flayed ones for the tau and some immortals for the orks...
Not just a slightly stronger gun. It's an assault weapon.Originally Posted by Tunisia

Yea, The gun itself is worth the 10 points. Assault means it has a 30" range, extra S will make WAY more shots wound, ezpecially against low T armies like eldar. Then of course the ap means all but special troops, sm, csm, wh, dh, and necrons will lose their save.
Now the extra toughness it INCREDIBLE. I got assaulted by a 10 man (woman) banshee squad, so that was 30 power weapon attacks coming straight at my most valueable unit! But, banshees need a 6 to wound a immortal, so I never lost a single one. On the contrary, With the assistance of a warrior squad, I managed to slowly kill it instead, only losing 2 or 3 warriors in the process.
Immortals are well worth it, especially vs a majority 4+ save or worse (though not as great then) army, or low toguhness army. Not so great against 3+ saves, so I would take the 15 extra warriors instead in that case.
As for the other elites, I haven't played with my 5 pariahs yet, but I agree, they are very specialized, and I would only take them in a very casual game vs uthwe or something.
I really like my Flayed Ones though. Most of the time they are a infiltrating suicide group, ready to strike fast, and die trying if necciasary. Other times they work well for a couter assault, moving with the rest of the army.
I would rate them like this, where 10 is best, 1 is worst, and listing them in the order I would consider taking them:
Flayed Ones 6
Inmortal are really great. They can only instant killed by power wepons and 10Dtr guns and are very very shooty. They had played in every bvattle a fought will necrons.
Falqyed ones can be very usuful vs some armies. Gasint shooty army the deepstrike rule is very good, and vs assault armies they can be a very useful counterattack unit. Many attacks and reduce the enemy leadership (always great). I have 10 and i usualy dontt use it, but some battle i have won beacuse of the falyed onbes.
I never use pariahs
flayed ones are only useful if you have enough warriors to provide cover fire, and only in large numbers. IMMORTALS ARE AMAZING.
The blood of the many outweigh the blood of the few.
Are you reading the same Rule Book or Codex that I am? The Gauss Blaster is still only range 24", but the fact that it's Assault 2 means that it can have the effect of rapid fire at a greater distance. Though of course the extra strength and AP are very nice.Originally Posted by ShadowZora13
In my experience, Flayed Ones haven't actually been that useful, but they are fun to paint. Considering modelling experience and battle capabilities, I'd rate them
Pariahs - 8/10
Flayed Ones - 7/10
Immortals - 6/10
I really don't like the Immortals Model.
I think what ShadowZora13 meansis that when you add th emove on you get a range (from the beginning of the turn) of 30".
I don't play necrons so i wouldn't know though
