my friend's play deamonunter, tyranid, eldar, wich hunter, and chaos space marines
out of all my friend's i lose the most to my friend that play's TAU. I'v tried hella strategies but they never work. Usually we play 500 point i only have 25 warriors, 1 heavy destroyer, 6 scarabs, and a necron lord. He usually uses 2 set's of fire warrior's and a battle suit HQ and 2 battle suit elites sometime's a few drones. Is there any way to beat him with the thing's i have right now?
his strategy is basically to keep his fire warrior's stationary and shoot at me with their extra long range and move forwrd with his battle suits(HQ,elite) and shoot at me. Then he moves his battle suits out of range during the assault phase because of the jump packs on his battle suits(i think). i'v tried just shooting him with my necrons but they get killed off by instant kills by his battle suits, i'v tried deep stirking my scarabs but they werent enough, i'v never found room for LOD but he probably could take out half my people befor i can even shoot
Well, Necrons are pretty hard to win with at 500 points. They are ment for larger games. Your stuck with 2 10 man squads of warriors and a lord with orb. Keeping the whole bucnh of emm together and near the lord will keep the suits from denying the WBB of your warriors. Thats all you can really do.
My suggestion, move to 750.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Necrons are one of the most difficult army for Tau to beat, so i'm suprised at the amount of trouble your having especially against a static tau army. Like the other guy said, keep your warriors around the lord with res orb. Use your scarabs to boost right up to the fire warriors and engage them, they should be able to beat the FW in HtH, but even if they don't thats less turns of them firing at your warriors. Don't bother chasing the suits all over the table, that'll just leave you open to the FW shooting so eliminate the FW first and then worry about the suits. Also, if you want concentrate your fire on the suits while your advancing towards the FW, the destroyer should be able to take at least one suit out.

do you guys play 500 of an hq and 2 troops or hq and whatever you want? Because you cant fit scarabs in if you guys play hq 2 troops since 20 warriors+lord w/orb (as stated) =500 points.

Well, for one a necron 500 point force usually equals 2 squads of 10 warriors and a lord with a rez orb. We can't afford more. The tau can easily field a strong 500 point force, and I'm guessing my list is a little point heavy.
Suggestion #1: Get either some graph paper when building your list, or a calculator. Never do it in your head. You make mistakes (I've done it myself before...).
Suggestion #2: Re-read your codex. Especially the parts on point costs, and the wording for We'll Be Back (or are you playing 750 points instad of 500 and just typoed?)
Tau cannot negate WBB without seeker missles, Fusion Blasters, or Railguns with solid shot. WBB is not negated by AP1, 2, or 3 weapons.
Suggestion #3: Either play 750+ point battles with your necrons, or agree to play by 40K in 40 Minutes rules at 400-500 points. They allow you some additional leeway with your list that necrons need at low points to be compedative (or at least not boring...)
Wake. Rise. Destroy. Conquer.
We have done so once. We will do so again.
I wish Tau had it easy against necrons. I can't think of a harder army to beat.
And as Arandmoor pointed out, there's no way you had the same points value, he went heavy on the tau points, and light on the necron points. Both of you went over 500p unless the tau player didn't take gun drones, in which case he can have 500p exactly with tooled crisis suits.
I just wish it were true. Necrons having tau problems, heh.
When I first got my Necron army the player I played most was a Tau player. It took me about 3 games of losing to find what really works. The Chariot. I hook up a destroyer lord with a squad of as many scarabs as you can afford and ride that beast right up into his grill. Forget the resorb at home and go with lightning field. Its around 300 for The Chariot but ever since I started getting that squad the Tau player has been wanting to play my eldar.

definately drop the heavy destroyer, they arent that great, especially in small games. take as many warriors as you can and a lord w/ rez orb
The blood of the many outweigh the blood of the few.
we alway's play around 500 give or take
i only used the res. orb twice but it never did any good cuz the necron W were alway's too far from the orb
we play a mandatory 1HQ and 2 Troop game's
i just have the heavy destroyer i never get to use it in the actual 500point battle
