Next Tuesday, I will be having my first battle againest grey knights. Hopefully we will be playing with the combat patrol rules, so that will limit his 3 wound HQ and 2+ amour saves, the points limit will be somewhere under 500, because thats all we have time for. I gather that GK's are significantly different from my other regular opponents (black legion, world eaters, altailoc eldar, orks, tau, tryanids, ultramarines) So i would appreciate it if someone can tell me what to look out for e.g. S6 'cause i might take scarabs.
My force choices are limited to scarabs, Nwarriors, and destroyers. I can't take my NLord because of the combat patrol rules.
If all goes well, I will endevour to write my first ever battle report in this thread after the battle.

one of my friend's play GK and are very annoying. my advice is just to fit as many warriors in as you can and add like 2-3 destroyers. The destroyers will be helpful in cleaning up after your warriors and can do more damage to his HQ guy. Once all he had left was his Cap. Stern and i had 13 warriors and i lost because of his saves. so see if u could get a heavy destroyer so that it's AP2 weapon wont allow armor saves(still allows invulnerable saves). If u get the heavy destroyer, take out your reg. destroyers if u go over the point limit.
First. take out his normal troop people with your warriors, it may take a while but eventually the'll fail their rolls and die. use your heavy destroyer or reg destroyers on his HQ or anything that has a reg. save of 3 or 2. with this starategy you should be able to win
no point in reg destroyers but they do provide mass fire power so that they will fail eventually.. but to get the most field heavy destroyers = no saveing goodyness
small points. hmm. not necron speciality.in fact, u can only have a minimum of 460 pts in a legal necron army for standard missions, so u dont have a whole lot of choice in the matter. basically, for 500 u get 20 warriors and a lord w/ res orb.
i'd recoment using 2 sqauds of warriors, a tomb spider (build scarabs until you lose a wound), and then take whatever else you can get for the points left - i think you might be able to get 2 wraiths which are always good in these types of games.
Tunisa, with the combat patrol rules you can actually have a smaller point army than 460 that is legal, since it is 1 compusory troop choice not 2 and an HQ choice, so the smallest legal army is 180 points.
I've already told the rest of you what my choices are, and I hate using proxies. so no tomb spyders and no Hdestroyers and because of the no 3 wound character rule i can't take my necron lord. but on the upside there are no 2+ amour saves.

I agree that if you had one, the 10 warriors, 3 destroyers and a spyder is one of the best, but since you don't have one, take the second best one I have ever used. 11 warriros and 6 destroyers in 500 points. make that 4 in 400. but, if you don't have 5, and you are playing 500 pts, then I would take 4 destroyers, 10 warriors, and 10 scarabs for exactly 500 points. NOTE: you will need to work something out with your opponent for the scarabs. Most people will let you get away with dropping a wound, but some are asses and wont, so be prepared. Maybe he will, and maybe he wont, if he wont, and you don't have 6 sestroers, then take either 19 warriors and 3 destroyers, or 27 warriors, or 17 warriors and 4 destroyers, all for 500 pts.
H destroyers suck in patrol, imo. Not enough shots to do squat. Maybe if you took 3+, but then it's a big point sinker. The best things for patrol I've found are warriors, destroyers vs 4+/worse saves, immortals for same reason but more mass, FO if you want/need to go cc, and spyders. You can't use scarabs most of the time, as I said above, but they would be ownage!
I didnt include scarabs in my list because they 3 wounds so arent allowed. If you are allowed to use them i would use as many as you have because your opponent will find massed scarbs almost impossible to take out - 20 would be a good number!!! Of course not many people have 20 bases of scarabs. ( i have 24!! )
Destroyers are a waste of time i think in these games, but thats just because I think 2 or 3 of them will get taken out to easily in one turn.
Ah, but thats just it. Destroyers wont get taken out easily in that size game, because they are neer immpossible to hit. How many times have you played a patrol with the other guy taking such long ranged weapons? I have seen it once when my friend took 4 missles. But most of the time, they wont have the capacity to do it with that many points.
