Hey I'm an ork player but i just borrowed my mate's Tau codex coz I like how they look. They seem quite different from most armies in playability as well. I had a few thoughts when I was reading it through:
1: Why do commanders have to be in battlesuits? It would make much more sense if you could buy the big arse suit as wargear like Ork mega armour, then you could have a Shas'O or Shas'El in standard or stealth armour too. It would give commanders alot more flexibility. Also I think the XV88's and Broadsides look lame, and if I had a Tau army I would prefer my commander to be in standard or stealth armour. It almost seems as if the codex is a bit rushed, with not many options (or maybe I'm just used to the crazy amount of options the Orks get).
2: Why don't the Tau use pistols? There are none in the codex. I mean I know they like long-range warfare but you'd think at least the Shas'ui of a squad would have some sort of sidearm in case the s**t hit the fan. Plus a pulse pistol would look rad.
Apologies if anyone has brought these points up before.
1. was brought up in the thread I started: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=36165 (Wearers)Originally Posted by robotnik
2. The tau don't have pistols because they abhor cc and think that a commander that gets them into cc lacks imagination and is stupid. Thus they have no plan for cc because they never plan on it.
3. Welcome to the tau fan club
Yep. Pistols are used when they you intend to get close. And thats not what the Tau intend to do.
They have something similar though. The carbine. I think of it as a huge, chunky pistol.... With a scope.
Yes Tau don't want cc because it way to unrespectible, and it is way to dangoures for a "weak" race like Tau, therefore they wants to keep enemies away with their long-range shooting.
If you want to go in cc use kroots they are actually quite good in cc
But Yes I'll like to have a commander in a stealth..... stealth is a really cool suits and that why I'm always use a lot of them.... It could also be nice if was more weapons in the armoury especialy to my stealths, and maybe another tank beside the hammerhead.
All in all yes it seems like the Tau codex was rushed, few units, few wargear and few options for personalize them. I hope they will fix it in the new codex whenver it might come
well the tau do have several chapter approved articles that give them more options but yeah I agree, the majority of the tau units asside from crisis suits have very little options compared to other armys.
