Hi all, i am trying to think of the advantages of having a seer council aposed to the standard independent farseers and warlocks. I love guardians and so decided to go ulthwe for the "famed" black guardians, and because the council is such a big target, i look at the almighty (as many consider it to be) seer council to be a handicap for ulthwe rather than an advantage. i hate the fact that my ever useful farseers are in one place and in a small squad. What are the advantages of the seer council?
"That is the sound of inevitability"
The multiple psykers can boost each other with their powers, and then the coulcil can be a nasty, yet expensive, cc unit. Just remember to equip the warlocks with CCW + pistol, and only give the kind of weak but expensive witchblades to the farseers. Remember to include a few MWs, fortune and perhaps an SS for shootiness in tour council.
I found out that fortune doen't work on invulnerable saves, making the council far less survivable than I thought. But it still can lay some serious beats. I'd make them as cheap as possible while still being able to hold off the enemy or fill gaps in the battle line. Here's my outline.
2 Farseers w/ Witchblade, Pistol, Mind War, and Runes of Witnessing
2 Warlocks w/ Pistol, CCW, Augment
1 Warlock w/ Pistol, CCW, Enhance
1 Warlock w/ Pistol, CCW, Destructor
Give this squad a serpent or a falcon to get them where they need to go. And if they don't have to move, sit back and own face with 36" mind wars. In combat they'll be OK but rely on them too much. Of course, the folly of the SC is the rediculous price. This is 243 points on foot, and they frankly aren't survivable enough to warrant that. Oh well. =/

Ummmm, Fortune DOES apply to invulnerable saves. As per the faq.Originally Posted by Winters
Since I use a guardian heavy force, I'd drop the witchblades for singing spears, Fortune for one mind war, and destructor for embolden as having your 200+ pt squad run would be bad.
But, that's my experience. Good luck
Oh wow, brain fart. OK SCs are better again.
A: Farseer- Mind War, Runes of Witnessing, Witch Blade
B: Farseer- Fortune, Runes of Witnessing, Witch Blade
1: Warlock- Destructor, Singing Spear
2: Warlock- Enhance, Singing Spear
3: Warlock- Augment, Runes of Witnessing, Witch Blade
4: Warlock- Destructor, Witch Blade
All have Shuriken Pistols Except for Singing Spears
this is 301 points
i use this squad for 1500+ point fights and it seems to work well. i use them a lil agressively, but more of the support side.
