I have yet to meet someone that uses warwalkers on a regular basis. Does anyone out there take them and how do they do for you?
right now no they are not worth it
I've found that they can be used effectively, only when there is a more immediate threat. Since not much in the way of shooting is going to be scarier that 6 starcannons, you need to have dangerous CC units fairly close, once they move out from behind something and start shooting.
If there are wraithlords and avatars close, this is especially effective. However, you may not want to wait for them to get there. In that case, use banshees or scorpions in waveserpants. Whichever one they shoot at, they lose.

You are right, there is nothing scarier than 6 starcannons pointing at you, which is why the war walkers get shot down so fast. Sure, they can, like everything else be used to great effect under the right circumstances, but in the walkers case, there areenĀ“t many of those. In my humble oppinion, war walkers are a bit too expensive for whay they do, and I canĀ“t really imagine how a beefed up falcon + a wraithlord (300 pts) will not beat 3 walkers with starcannons (also 300 points).
I have seen a lot of threads like this lately, maybe it is time to make ourselves a war walker tactica?
one of the most awsome ways I have seen warwalkers being used are with 2 scatterlasers being guided. a full squad gives you 6d6 shots wounding on a two. thats an average of 13 saves being made by anything T4 or under they shoot. 9 saves w/o guide. 60 points cheaper than star cannons and a hell of a lot more player friendly (6 scatter lasers is alot less intimidating than 6 starcannons)

I actually started the last thread as I was debating using them. I now have 3 war walkers and have tried everything from using them in a squad of 3, using them in a squad of 2, or using them individually. The best set up i have found is a starcannon and a scatter laser. Usually I use 2 of them each as its own squad. Superisingly, they have been highly effective against Orks and Space Marines so far. They are tough enough to pop transports and the 36 inch range can usually keep them out of fire for the first turn.
With 2 I start the game with each behind a pieces of terrain, and keep them moving. Honestly, they tend to blow up on turn 3 or 4, however I use them to stop people from shooting at my Wave Serpants and Dark Reapers. My configuration makes them 95 points a pop, still a little pricey for my liking with armor 10 and a next to useless energy field. Used in combination with 2 Vypers with starcannon's they are really deadly. Course if i had 2 more Vypers, I might just use those instead.

The trick when using war walkers is to deploy them out of LOS, and use timing or whatever to get into LOS to the enemy you want to destroy and as few other enemy units you can. You can also give the enemy a confusing choice of targets, like placing a wraithlord within effective charge range of his units at the same time. If you play UlthwƩ like i do, it's good to guide them. I recommend that you always use all out starcannons or all out scatter lasers, depending on what you are up against.

Is this forum for all Walkers in general or only War Walkers?
If in general, then you can never go wrong with a Chaos EC Dreadnaught!

war walkers are not worth it. even wiyth a unit of 3, each with SC's, even with a farseer with guide, they can go down easily.
SC range of 36", ww move of 6" is only 42" still in range of lascannons and missile launchers.
i've seen a units of ww get wiped out from a leman russ, predator's, dark reaper's, falcon's, almost everything.
and no i don't use them, neither will i ever. an owner of a comic shop near me tries to use like 6 of them every game, my falcons and even vypers knock them out.
