I've just thought of a pretty cool combo for taking out annoying shooty units like tau fire warriors or heavy weapons squads. Using flayed ones and a monolith (it doesn't have to be flayed ones, but they would work best if the opponent has a chance of resistance in cc), you do some cunning massed attacks and repeated WBB rolls.
I've read the Codex, Rulebook and FAQ, and they seem to make this legal.
You drop a Monolith (D/S), into a unit of people (it doesn't matter if it scatters, it can only scatter up to 6 inches and so this does not affect the plan). in the same movement phase, you throw a unit of Flayed ones (who would usually have to foot slog for another 3 turns or more) through the portal (hopefully any that had been gunned down last turn can have another go at WB. Then, you may shoot the Gauss Flux Arc at the unit you are targetting and any near to you. Assault phase, you charge the Flayed Ones, and do some damage.
next turn, you pull the FO's away again through the portal, shoot at the targetted unit, then charge them in again. More attacks, more WBB rolls. According to theoretical probability, getting 2 WBB rolls for everything means that nothing will die.
im sure this would REALLY annoy any player who you do this on, but it it is legal and I'm pretty certain it would work. If you had a Lord with SoL with the flayed ones, so much the better: even more shooting going down on that unit. The great thing is; the unit, which would probably be a heavy weapons squad, could not fire back at the Monolith: it is in combat for all of it's shooting phases, getting owned by FO's.
another thing is that the monolith might throw the unit out of coherency, or make it very spread out for purposes of killing.
also, if they charged in other units to try to kill the flayed ones, you can just move the monolith away, and then pull them out the same movement phase. then, next turn, own their massive bunch of troops with a particle whip!
would this work? has anyone tried it before? can anyone test it for me? please post your replies !

One suggestion is be certain a lord comes with them, because if they are a heavy waepon squad and manage to break away, you will definetly need RO to allow for additional WBB, and pariahes might be better if you facing Space Marines

Forget about that pariah remark, I forgot they're not necrons, maybe wraiths with a destroyer lord?

Thats a pretty old tactic, but a very good one. I would definatly put a Lord up with them, incase they get pweaon resistance. I need to use this start when my mono is built. and yea...you nailed it just how its supposed to work.
*edit* gonna make my own topic for this question.
