I had a look through the new codex the other day, and i have mixed responses, certain things have been powerd up and others have been tonned down, but one thing i noticed was how bad they have made lictors and i would like a little bit of feedback on what others think...
I used to swear by lictors, and used them against any specialist ranged army, i know allot of tyranid players were divided on opinion about lictors back with the old codex, but now after looking what they done in the up and coming codex, i can hardly see any sensible players taking them.
1/new rule so they get to hit on a 3+ regardless (wooopdy doooo) with a high ws there hitting most things on 3+ anyway
2/enemys cant search for them anymore (to be honest this is the only real bonus they get)
1/ there more a gamble, cant arrive on first turn and tie up badly deployed units as well because they deep strike into play, so wont be turning up untill at least turn 2 anyways, and yes even with re rolls to see if they enter play, they still might not turn up when needed, ie early in the game
2/ there more fragile, 1 less wound yet still the same expensive cost
Why would anyone in there right mind spend 80 pts on a Fragile model with 2 wounds
that doesnt really do its job properly anymore ???
am i being too harsh ??? i used to be amongst the pro Lictor camp, and enjoyed using them, they added allot of atmosphere to games and scared many players into mistakes, i cant see this happening anymore, there just to risky and expensive? what do the vets think ?

The deep strike rule rocks , no more messing about putting you Lictor some were on the board were there may never be troops, you look an see were he is needed and there he goes ! As Nottoc pointed out, the hit on 3+ thing may not help the Lictor immensly, but DS him next to a Gaunt squad and suddenly your 20+ attacks are all hitting on 3+. That's pretty damned powerful in my book. As not being able to be searched for is a dream come true for me, since every Guard, Tau, and Marine player in my club always took the wargear that would let them search out my Lictor.
And the biggest bonus the new Lictor has is it's no longer restricted by the edge of the enemies DZone. Since it deepstrikes, you can pop it up in any area terrain the enemy is hiding behind. This will, in my opinion, help greatly against tanks that have ungodly ranges and sit in the back most corner behind cover, or those annoying Whirlwinds that don't need LOS and stay parked behind a hill or a building the whole game. And since the Lictor DS instead of hidden deploys now, enemy players will think twice about just sitting behind cover. The Lictor can pop up anywhere at anytime after turn 2, so I don't think that players are going to want to play the odds and hope that the Nid player rolls lousy enough that the Lictor never makes it to play.
They have changed the way the Lictor plays greatly, and I think 80 points is a wee bit on the expensive side for them, but all in all they are still fairly solid.

The reroll ability is good if you have a Seeding Swarm but otherwise the Lictor is bad.
How do 20+ attacks hit on a 3+ with lictor, i dont understand
All broods with a model within 6" of the lictor count as having feeder tendrils as well, so if you had a brood of gaunts, they would all hit on 3s.
I think thats right, at least.
AFAIK, they count has having prefered enemy. If they counted as having Feeder Tendrils, they'd be able to pass on the ability, too -- which would be quite extreme.
it is certainly a very powerfull help for the beast with lesser WS
How would you consider what would be cover for the lictor to deploy in? Something that would partially block the view from your opponent? Like the other side of the wall?
