Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just started an Eldar army. I am confused to what troop choice i should buy for my 500pt army. It is either guardian defenders or Dire Avengers.
Space Wolves 12-1
Wood Elves 1-2
I would suggest for a smaller game guardians because they are cheaper. allowing you to feild a squad of aspects maybe
yea, i would also suggest guardians so then you'll have more units in a relativley small 500 point army. But it all depends on what style of play you like.

As to all open questions, it depends.
To kill marines, or IG, Bugs, or Tau. Tourney, Friends, strangers. Give us specifics and we'll help with answers.
You dont *need* a seer council to play ultwhé. The council just replaces the farseer entry in the codex, but you can still field phoenix lords or avatars as HQ choices. It is very un-fluffy, but not illegal.. I sometimes field asurmen in stead of councils in below 1000 points games.Originally Posted by tarzen

Oh, you'll find that you do. The entry in Codex: Craftworld Eldar states that Ulthwe needs "1 Seer Council" not "Seer Council" or "0-1 Seer Council". Unless you're using the Ulthwe Strike Force you need to have the Seer Council, the Strike Force, on the other hand can have The Spear of Khaine, which isn't a much beter choice for low points. You dont *need* a seer council to play ultwhé.
Beil-Tan is a not bad choice, although you'll have to be proficient with using aspect warriors in order for yuor army to be balanced, but if you play vanilla, a mdeium sized Guardian Squad is the way to go, with some "auxiluary" troops (Vypers, D-Cannons) and a Squad of Aspect Warriors. This can leave you with a well rounded list, and still some points left over.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
