Welcome to Librarium Online!
ok, before you scream cheese i wanna give a lil backround on this seer council.
Since Ulthwe has so many powerful farseers and warlocks i started to think, "well, if their minds are so powerful, why would they be combat oriented?"
Plus the insert in the Ulthwe section about how the farseers are to proud to go flying around on jet bikes, I waned to make a council that showed arrogence and showy mental ability.
A: Farseer- Mind War, Fortune, Rune of Witnessing, CCW. SP
B: Farseer- Mind War, Runes of Witnessing, CCW, SP
C: Farseer- Mind War, Runes of Witnessing, CCW, SP
1: Warlock- Augment, Singing Spear
2: Warlock- Augment, Singing Spear
3: Warlock- Augment, CCW, SP
i think it shows how the warlocks help the farseers and almost try to protect them using the singing spears.
its got backround and, at best, 3 mind wars at 36".
also i could swith things around a bit and use Eldrich Storm against hordes.
I would recommend taking Runes of Witnessing for the warlocks too. They fail one psychic test and your range has been eliminated... and since their leadership isn't that high... well expect to fail.
Still 36"is pretty sweet. This is an assassin squad since they don't target units... they target models...
Death is instant, Pain will end, Glory is forever...
Well I don't know that much about eldars but it looks evil and yes an assasination squard I don't wanna face them in battle
Hmm.. they seems awefully specialized. If the enemy reaches cc, they are dead. And They will run out of targets real quick, and then what are they good for?
btw eldrict storm sucks. Dont use it.

I will say that it is good against nids kill their synapsis creatures and the nid player looses control of his units, you should have a 50/50 chance of killing them with your mind war
It's useful vs. a lot of things. Use it vs. Tau Broadsides (as you don't need to target Shield Drones), the heavy weapons in Devestator Squads, Synapse creatures, Chaos Icon Bearers, basically any Multi-wound character or guy carrying a big gun. And no Eldritch Storm does NOT suck. True it's only Strength 3, but it's mobile, and having 5 of them is great for blowing a hole in a horde army. I like how it spins vehicles around as well, for it's quite entertaining to expose the rear armor of that ever-so-pesky Leman Russ.
I dont know about this one, it is kinda fragile and very expensive. a horde army would overrun this squad without help and an army like IG would have to many heavys to make this useful. It would be pretty difficult to kill synapse creatures because they are also leadership ten.
It is definitely not cheese but, i dunno i kinda don't like it.
When you combine Speed and Power you get Lightning.
I do believe that every single Synapse Creature is Ld10, giving you a 50/50 chance of doing a single wound per Mind War, every single Synapse Creature has more than one wound, and the ones with less wounds (Tyranid Warriors) come in squads of at least 3. Therefore, Synapse Creatures aren't such a god target, however, weapon beasts in Gaunt squads, etc, will test on their crummy Ld of 5, which gives you a good chance of knocking it out. Most Characters fall into this group as well - their high Leadership means that you're probably better mind-waring something else.I will say that it is good against nids kill their synapsis creatures and the nid player looses control of his units, you should have a 50/50 chance of killing them with your mind war
A good choice for a Mind War, I think, would be an Imperial Guard Vox Caster.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
You are kind of right nebulas, you are just forgetting that gaunts can have hive node, which makes them count as synapse creatures (or atleast in 3rd ed they can don't know about 4th)Originally Posted by Nebulas
Regarding the cost... yeah... I would only take something like this in a 1500+ game. At 1500, this is 20% of your army points.
I would take this when playing against Marines and CSM due to the way heavy weapons and troop seargants/champions work. Good against DE too. It would also be effective against other Eldar as you would have a good chance of dropping the exarchs and (possibly) the Avatar (high leadership... crummy save). It would also give you a weapon to drop Wraithlords too (as opposed to having to rely on BLs, EMLs, snipers, D-Cannons, Wraithcannons, etc.).
It might be viable against a Nid army though those points might be better spent on Starcannons, Brightlances, EMLs and/or Scatterlasers/Shuriken Cannons.
I would avoid it completely against IG (who do not have specific models carrying heavy weapons... they have heavy weapons 'teams'... and lots of tanks against which MW is useless). Likewise, I would avoid fielding it against Necrons (stupid WB.
I have never played against WitchHunters or DeamonHunters so I have no idea what to say about them.
Still... it isn't cheesy. In fact, they have a pretty tough go of it due to their speciality. Great for taking on armies that vest a lot of punch in single models (exarchs, vet seargants, heavy weapon models, aspiring champions, etc.), but not great against high leadership armies or armies with lots of vehicles.
Like I said though... definitely get Runes for the warlocks.
