edit: stop answering already! stop questioning too! just read the thread! no more posts are needed! 3rd edition codex with 4th edition rules, they are beasts and have fleet. 4th edition codex however overrides the rules, and they are no longer beasts and no longer have fleet.
I'll tell you the full story just to see what else he might have done wrong.
I just played a 3 way combat patrol game where we had to deploy more than 18" away from the opponent. The tyranid player had 5 warriors and 22 gargoyles. He assaulted eldar snipers first turn by moving more than 18". Is this possible with warriors? If my memory serves me correct, isn't it illegal to have wings and leaping on warriors? And if so, is there anyway to get more than 18" movement (including assault movement) on 36p warriors? I don't want to call someone a cheater in their face...unless I can prove it .
according to pg33 of the new codex no nid may have flying with extended carapice or leaping. the nid then goes 12" for jump infantry(is that right) and then assaults 6" thus making it 18" no more than that. the warrior also becomes a fast attack unit
3rd ad rules - leaping warrior could move 6", then FoF d6" more, then assault 12" for the grant total of 19"-24".
4th ad - 18" in either leaping - or - flying (6"+12" or 12"+6").
the guy was cheating.. you can only have one mutation for each stat on the biomorph table... and the warriors only stat with 2 options is movement.. so that statement is clearly saying no 21" charges for warriors, winged gaunts could have fleet of winged it to put them over 18" though, but definitely not warriors
I hope you beat the guy anyway
Thankyou for your answers that was a fast response.
He didn't have fleet on his warriors, and TwoYears I don't think it's even possible.
Anyway, unfortunately I wasn't able to shoot him down with my stealths and he assaulted them. I hit 9 shots, then managed 1 3+ in 9 dice, which he saved. Then of course stealths can't escape 24" movement, but I'll have a word with him next time we meet.
It is possible to have Fleet of Claw on warriors, because at the back of the 4th ed. rulebook, it says Warriors with leaping are beasts. Beasts get FoC.
That's about the warriors from the old codex though. It doesn't apply to the new codex. It is possible to have Fleet of Claw on warriors, because at the back of the 4th ed. rulebook, it says Warriors with leaping are beasts. Beasts get FoC.
Simple like this, if the warriors have leaping is posible with the 3th codex and 4th edition rulebook, but is not posible with the 4th codex and 4th edition rulebook neither with 3th codex and 3th edition rulebook. Simple?
PS:Very few ppl got the 4th edition codex cuz is not available for sell alone only with an army case, so there is nothing wrong on his movement 6"+1"-6"+12"

Dodge and prettyflywhite guy, i'm a little disappointed. I made it clear that I wanted an explaination for the first turn assault. You basically told me it was impossible. I have now left him a message calling him a cheater. And now it seems that the warriors had fleet, which meant he might have done it when I wasn't looking (considering it was away from me, I'd say that's fair enough). On what page does it say that a) leaping warriors are beasts and b) beasts get fleet of claw. We are still talking about the normal codex btw, not the new one.
lol man get it right
mente is right with 3rd ed codex and 4th ed rulebook it allowed a charge range of 19"-24"
Remember he said the were playin 3rd ed
But do u mean 3rd ed codex and rulebook or 3rd ed codex and 4th ed rulebook?
so dodge and fly get your facts right next time k
