Broadsides in a 1000 pt army

Would 2 broadsides in a 1000 point army be unnecessary?

I have versed 2 land raiders in a 1000p army. There are times when it's quite necessary.
They're pretty cheap, you wouldn't take 2 in a balanced list, but it wouldn't hurt too much.

Ignore Mech Tau. In lower point games such as 1000 points it's better to go for the higher model count Trench Tau provides. Remember, a basic Firewarrior costs only 10 points so feild lots of them. And don't forget the Broadsides with Plasma.

My 1000 pt list includes two broadsides in it and I find it to be very effective. Always have a backup.

Its perfectly ok to use two broadsides. I have done lists with two broadsides w/ shield generators that did quite well, and lists with a hammerhead that did just as well. You deploy them seperately where they will get a good field of fire, and then you're pretty much guaranteed to knock out any enemy armor in a 1000 points. After that, you either use their SMS or plasma rifles, or leave them till the end of the firing order and snipe individual models. .

I use 2 Hammerheads with railguns and multi, much more usefull in the new rules.
Never use Broadsides to slow, cant move and shoot, can be insta killed, new drone rules screwed them up etc etc.Love the models and the idea but give me HH anyday.

I've had good experiences with both broadsides and hammerheads... to be honest, I once had 6 broadsides in a 1500 pt game, and lost through sheer luck on my opponent's side...
