New Unit I Made Up Need Feedback

I made up this unit, when I was thinking of a mobile turret thing. This may be a bit overpowered, but I will try to fix it.

    Heavy Support: 0-1 Pulse Cannon
    --------------------------WS----BS----S----T----W----I----A----Ld.----Sv.
    Crew Member (7 pts.)---2------3-----3--3(4)---1----2---1-----8------4+
    Cannon (50 pts.)--------0------0-----0----5----3-----0---0-----0-----4+

Team Size: 1-3 Cannons and up to three crew per cannon

    Special Rules
    -----------------Rng.-----Str.-----AP-----Type
    Pulse Cannon: 48"-------8-------2------Heavy 2

Anti Grav Platform with Recoil Compensation: You may move up to 10'' but may only fire once if moving. If you move into difficult terrain, make a crash test.

Small Shield: There is a small shield to protect the gunners from harm, adding +1 to thier toughness.

Different Mounts: Hammerhead: 35 pts. Broadside: free (replace railguns)

    Options: (Turret only)

Targetting Computer: Add +1 to BS-10 pts.
Seeker Missiles: May have up to two Seeker Missiles at 10 pts. each
    No Anti-Grav Platform: -10 pts.
Small Shield Generator: Gives a 5+ inv. save, if rolling a 1 the shield malfunctions and cannot be used 10 pts.

I thought that the rail based weapons fire metal slugs along a "rail" at a high velocity. How does the plasma part work into this weapon.
What would the purpose of this weapon be? I dont see why tau would need another weapon like this. For anti armour you have (surprise, surprise) the railgun, and for anti heavy infantry you have the ion cannon and plasma rifles.

When the rail fires, it goes through a chamber of plasma, heats it, and there you go. I'm not to sure if the rail would be eaten up or not though. The reason I did this is because there are few heavy support choices, and this could be mobile or not, so it goes with both Mech and Static playstyles.

Edit: No longer works like this.

Forge world plasma cannon for hammerhead??? Basically that isnt it. No offence, but i reckon a bad idea. Maybe if you made it injto an artillery piece, that would work better, and not montable on XV suits...

It was more an artillery piece, and a heavier support thing for Xv8's. I guess I did the other two for more variety with them.

the name has to be changed, the plasma rail combo would be pointless, because the speed that the projectile will be traveling at will render the plasma useless. At the speeds a rail weapon can fire it will have punched thru the target before the effects of plasma could set in, therefore making it pointless to super heat it, which is very likely to melt the projectile.

also, assuming that this could work, i fail to see why it would be s8 ap2, fluffwise(again if this could work) it should be like s100000000000 ap.00000000000000000001 (major exageration)

although i must admit i like your idea for anti grav platforms(i always felt tau should have a version that functions similarly to the eldars, and can be attached to firewarrior units for some extra punch), maybe come up with your own weapon name or just change this oone, how about particle beam cannon, or particle accelorator cannon(i have no idea what that means, but it sounds cool) some other cool names:
    wave cannon
    electron cannon
    proton cannon
    neutron cannon
    electromagneticpulse cannon
    pulse cannon
    distentagrator
    sonic cannon

this could be a great entry for chapter approved....

Meh, pulse cannon will do for me, I wasn't quite sure if the plasma would heat it enough, but might as well go on, it doesn't all have to be realistic. There are uncountable fluff problems with this that all have to do with the name. The reason I didn't make it more powerful is because I didn't want it too overpowered.

it was a good idea though, just gotta work on some of the abilities of it, like the alternate mount thing, i doubt that an xv8 would be able to carry sumthing that powerful(and fluffily large) etc. but the platform is a good idea, just work on the mountable weapons part...

I thought Ion Cannons as a Grav platform would work well.
