What do you guys use to transport your units (to the game site, not on the battlefield!) :p
I ask because the GW case seems ridiculously expensive, and besides which I don't see how it would help transport vehicles. Our Fish vehicles are large and unwieldy.
I've read the article on this site about case building. I'm interested but don't know where to buy foam in the US. Do craft/hobby shops often carry it? I don't think I've ever seen it in a store, so I'd probably have to order it online.
Well...I don't take care of my units at all. I fit all 5 of my tau tanks in the battleforce box and I use 2 small devilfish boxes to transport all my guys, dice, glue, clippers, and tape measure.
I strongly suggest a tacklebox for cheap storage. My guys break all the time. I've glued crisis ankles together 8 times now, and I only own 7.
The GW carry case is often worth it though.

Peace through Superior Firepower! =^.^=
I made this exact topic once... It got locked. But I still think this is a good topic. The case IS ridiculously overpriced at 50 dollars for a plastic case with foam.
Personally, I use an old model box with smaller boxes inside to carry the trooops in. The tank is jammed into the remaining space along with my other larger models. Everything is seperated and covered by little cardboard pieces.
Hobby shops like GW sell the red foam things. But they too are pretty expensive.

First, you go to your local Walmart/Target/K-Mart and pick up a simple plastic file box. These beauties are usually located in the home office dept., and you can usually get a pretty good deal on one. Here is the one I have --->[LINKAGE]
My wife found the biggest one (#1896) on sale for 3.00 a piece! Normally these go for 5-10 bucks.
Then, mosey on over to the bed and bath section and get a twin bed mattress pad. Here's a fine example ---> [LINKAGE]. These can also be gotten fairly cheap if you look around. The twin size is 8 bucks max.
Then go home, carefully cut the mattress pad into rectangles that will fit into the storage unit..and VIOLA! A nice miniature case for around 10-15 bucks. The mini's fit perfectly in between the pad grooves.

I use a Plano double depth pistol case. Come with 2 levels of eggcrate foam in them. Cut a slit in the flat side of the foam for the edge of the mini's base to fit in and viola. Take out the center piece of foam and it works great for vehicles. Cases are $10 each. I've gotten 100 marines in a single case and close to 120 IG. All my Tau infantry including 6 crisis suits and 3 broadsides fit in a single case.
