Welcome to Librarium Online!
With a Dark Eldar army what is the best way to defeat space marines? My army is warrior based and i have a few wychs and a talos. Any comments would be welcome.

Kill one man you're a Murderer.
Kill ten you're a Monster.
Kill a hundered you're a Hero.
Kill a thousand you're a Conqueror.
I would say a ravager with 3 disintagrators, as it will take out 6+ a turn on sustained fire. A hidden talos is always a good thing because if you expose it, it will die from mass heavy weapon fire or even bolters. Thats when its great to have your raiders/ravagers running around the back of the map with a nightshield picking off SM to make your opponent come to you where your talos can make it into hth. Even a powerfist will have a hard time killing a talos.
Not unless you roll really good. The statistical average on sustained fire is 3 kills.I would say a ravager with 3 disintagrators, as it will take out 6+ a turn on sustained fire.
uh 3 blast templates killing on 2's? Maybe if your opponent is spread out at a 2" maximum, but in my experience once the battle starts spacing goes to hell.
Edit. My bad , I meant maximal (the template)
That's not sustained mode.
Good anti-marine weapons:
Sniper Squad (10 warriors, 2 with Dark Lances)
Ravagers with 3 dissintegrators
Talos (if you can get it into combat, maybe via WWP)
wytches w wytch weapons
What not to take:
spliter cannons (not bad against scouts and land speeders but not great vs regular marines)
Splinter cannons are underestimated...in average a splinter cannon volley kills .44 marines. A lance or blaster shot kills .55 marines in average.
How did you get those numbers? A DL or a blaster will kill when they hit, which is 2 out of 3 times.Originally Posted by ArchonAstaroth
You need to hit first though, and there is a 1/3 chance to fail.
The numbers for dark matter weapons are these:
2/3 to hit chance, 5/6 to wound chance.
That's a 10/18 chance to kill something, =.55 kills per shot in average
One splinter cannon shot has a 2/3 chance to hit too, a 1/2 chance to wound a marine, and a 1/3 chance to punch through power armour.
That's a total of 2/18 kills per shot in average, =.11 kills
Since the splinter cannon fires four shots, it's total kill expectancy against marines is 4 * 2/18 = 8/18 = .44
You also need to look at what else the SM player is fielding. In my game this weekend against Ultramarines, he took 2 Landspeeder squadrons of 3 and deepstruck them. The only thing that saved my hide was 2 SCs in my WWP squads. They took down both squadrons the turn they deepstruck.
