I have read the new nids codex and saw that you get a lot of upgrades like toughness and strenght. while you guys already have nice stats. go get very strong MC for relatively low price cost. together with some very cheap models with go can give some serious upgrades you guys look godlike.
what is your opinion about the new nids codex?
Don´t mess with the dicegod
We have enough weaknesses such as force weapons which can kill everything we have as well as being around the ork level in terms of shooting? Some races can even match us in CC some of the time so I don't see how you can think we are to powerful.
P.S. I am sorry if this sounds like a rant as it is not meant to be.
well i haven't got the new codex yet but we've now got a couple of big handicaps too.
-warriors don't fleet anymore, so can't keep up with hormagaunts. which can't take hive nodes anymore.
-winged HT's are more expensive for the previous stat-line and can't have warpblast either.
-we can't have 2 "heavy" weapons either on our mc's, they count as twin-linked, and are prohibitively expensive for twinlinking.
-everything seems to have gone up in price for little benefit.
-carnifex's have definately gone up in price, no increase to base stat-line, but can be complete monsters now.
advantages seem to be
-I6 tyrant possible
-more upgrades, so more variety
-synapse creatures are immune to instakill.
-faster, better armoured stealers.
but i definately don't think we've become godlike. the cheap fast models have become more expensive. (hormagaunts come with ws upgrade at 10 pts. so we can't swap it out for an I upgrade)
gargoyles are more expensive, and i think spinegaunts are more expensive now too.
HT's can't take the extra wound or toughness upgrade and carnifex's with them are unbeleivably expensive.

The new nid list isnt too strong, just makes it more challenging for us other races to beat.
Ultramarines Second Company
Ug, too strong? Go have a looksee at the khorne camp for too strong. Bloody hell, I've been on the recieving end of a beserker glaive too many times to count. Uber killing daemon princes that can move 30 inches a turn? Far out! Half reason I'm going nids is so I can kill the bloody things without half my army disappearing in the process (broodlord and genestealers, winged hive tyrant, YAY! ).
The other half is because I want to play with a manouverable army for a change. Chaos is out cause, well, the blind charge thing is a little boring. Orks, yes I love orks but they are still using an old codex so their rules aren't so up to date. That leaves nids.
*edit* yeah I suppose DE and Eldar and tau are all manouverable but they're all fragile too (pansy armies as the club collectively refers to them).

I'd be careful what you say about dark eldar when I am around.Originally Posted by Triumph Of Man
no I don't think that the nids are becoming too powerful, sure the models can be more powerful but they have to pay more points to get this anyway. They just happened to get a new codex which makes them a little better that is all. The marines also have a new (ish) codex that makes them a lot more powerful. so now the nids have somehting in comman with the marines

Nids are stronger in certain respects, but weaker in others. I don't think they are TOO strong by any stretch of the imagination. One of the main weaknesses of the Tyranids will be keeping units within Synapse range, as it is much more difficult now (lost Hive Nodes too). This places more onus on each Nid general. I think we're going to see more games where Tyranids either dominate or get slaughtered, because they definitely require more skill now than they used to.
Also, there is no need to complain of the new Nid advantages unless we're going to have a look at the new Space Marines too. Their strengths definitely increased, with even fewer apparent disadvantages. But I'm not complaining; every army is going to get some boosts when each new respective codex is released...GW seems to be upping the "horsepower" on each army in turn, probably in an effort to make each army much more different from one another, and also to make games seem more like clashes between titans and uber-powerful warriors.
Besides, with the SM being stronger, they are just more of a challenge and its all the more satistying when my Nids crunch through that power armour.
(oh, and yes, admittedly I am biased...but so what! )
lets just hope that they give all the armies the re vamp that the nids and marines have recieved.
Especially the dark eldar
fine, and the orks........
And there I was, thinking this only happened in WFB. Every time a army is released/updated, there are cries of "CHEESE" or "UNDERPOWERED" or both. Then everyone realises it's not, but by then the next army has come out and it starts All. Over. Again.
Sorry for the rant. Admittedly this thread is a lot better than the regular Over/Underpowered ones.
i've never faught against a DE army but they definately don't look underpowered. they have the best assault troops in the game and their shooting is scary, the archon is an absolute beast and is pretty cheap for the havok he can wreak- pefect character killer. i've seen a balanced DE player come first in a tourney after he trounced a bunch of pretty cheesy armies.
they do however look really hard to use.
back on topic. whether they are overpowered remains to be seen. we'll have to wait to see every army get a 4th edition remake, then decide who's the most overpowered. this'll just take a while.
can't wait to see what they do with eldar
