Welcome to Librarium Online!
In two days I am playing a friend of mine that I hvae never beaten. He is Mr. Cheese. He takes death company and a land raider in a 400 points game. You get the idea. That means I want to beat him, and I dont care about beeing cheesy.
I am the defender in a 800pts blitz mission. I thought about taking:
1*Lord w orb
Basicly I will no DS the lith, but just stand ther and fire, maybe move the lith bakc to withdraw my units from CC.
My hate is contagious...
you play necrons you dont need help to be cheesy! :p
reserection orb might help!
Aah! Necrons are not cheesy. They're just easy to use against most opponents.Originally Posted by greg1394Originally Posted by greg1394I think he already got this idea.Originally Posted by JürgenMaïster
Maister-For 800 pts, I would not recommend a lith. It'll be a quarter of your army and it won't pay off its points. You might consider some scarabs to tie up his squads and a spyder or two to help with that power armor.
Question: How does he take a 250 pt land raider and a death company and 2 troop choices in 400 pts. Are you playing combat patrol? If so, he isn't actually aloud to take the land raider (vehicle with armor over 33).
Honestly though, you shouldn't really claim something including a land raider is cheesy. They're the most overpriced tank in the game (that I can think of at the minute that is...)

You have just recieved the Amish Computer Virus. Since the Amish don't have computers, it is based on the honor system. So please delete all the files from your computer. Thank you for you cooperation.

correct me if im wrong but doesn't your Gauss weaponary inflict auto glancing hits on a to hit roll of a 6.
so thats the raider taken care of now the death coy they dont get their stand back up roll if you hit them with a weapon that negates their armour save, this means power weapons as well (am i hearing parhias), but a lord on destroyer with a warscythe should really ruin their day
WARMASTER of the SCHOLA PROGENIUM Alnwick Chapter (soon to be the world)
I havent realy played him before using Necron, just nids and orks.
Anywat, I could take the extra lord as you suggest, but wont it get killed fast?
Remember. I am the DEFENDER in a BLITZ mission.
Thanks for all the help so far

Decado, you don't need a lord with the Warscythe unless every unit there has an invunerable save. Keep his Staff Of Light - you'll be able to shoot down 3 marines (people forget the Staff has AP 3) and then assault them with a power weapon, so that could be at most 7 marines down in a single turn if the dice gods are with you. Wayscythes are really over-rated and really only need to be taken when you're facing a buttload of tanks or heavy SM infantry where you need to ignore those saves.
If all he takes is a squad and the tank, get rid of the monolith and get a full squad of Immortals. Throw on a Veil Of Darkness and zip around the field shooting the crap outta his squad. A full squad of Immortals gets 20 shots at 24", a little better consistancy than that of the Monolith. Pure math there. BUT the particle whip ability could possibly take out his entire squad in a single shot. (Exactly how many squads are we talking about? I'm going on the assumtion of 1 full squad in the Raider running around). Anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

"Holy Jesus, what are these goddamn animals?" R. Duke.
warscythes are good on infantry that reallys on their good armour save or invoulnerable safe (termys and Deamons ect....). Leave the job of tank popen to your warriors cause if 20 gauss shot come his way i am 98% sure that it will go pop. for his infantry i think im hearing immortals and destroyers, at least 4 of them. screw the monolith cause that will just be a huge point sink. Bring a lord with an orb and screw the warscythe. I hope my advice can be of assistance for you...........phase out
This is why 400 point games should use the Combat patrol rules found in the back of the BGB. If you don't you will bump into all sorts of cheesiness that will end the game in turn 1. Wow that's fun!
Seriously, use Combat patrol. No HQs are required, but you can use one if you want (with restrictions of course only up to 2 wounds). Only one troop choice is required. No vehicles over a certain armor raiting are allowed. (This would prevent the Land Raider and Monolith).
If your opponent is not using Combat Patrol and he knows you are using necrons he will most likely bulk up on power weapons which means no WBB rolls for you. As suggested, use a Lord and make sure you equip him with an Orb so your Crons can still get a WBB. Heck, try and see if you can use destroyers and you can zip them around the board while laying a minimum of 15 shots that most likely are wounding on 2's.
