    A) Spinefists: They come in pairs and are twin linked. Their strength is rather average, but have a decent enough AP to kill DE Warriors, Guardsmen, Guardians, and other low armour models. These are also the cheapest guns available.

Devourers: They're the ones with a cone-shaped nose. They're weaker than Spinefists and have no AP, but re-roll failed wounds, have a better range, and two shots.

Fleshborers: The remaining guns. They're stronger than the other two, and also re-roll failed wounds, but have no AP, and have the same short range as Spinefists.

    Yes.

    C) Spinefists.

Spinegaunts are always good. It's hard to have too many. They are just meat sheilds and numbers, because they are cheap and you can get a lot of them. If you want to have better shooting with the shooty gaunts you make, go with the fleshborers. The devourers are too weak for gaunts IMO(I haven't seen the new codex yet, but if they got stronger, I would use them, because if they were stronger they would be a very good shooty unit.)

Devourers now shoot 18", and have living ammo special rule (reroll to wound). They're still the most expensive gun for gaunts, though. You're paying around 10 points per gaunt with devourer and str upgrades. I'd stick to spinegaunts, unless you're like me and already have a bunch of termagants.

Point-for-point, Gaunts with a strength upgrade and Devourers are actually decent against Marines. The the two shots and living ammo make it statistically better against Marines than Spinegaunts or vanilla Termagaunts (Fleshborer), and equal to a Termagaunt with Enhanced Senses. Even then, the Devourer still has its range advantage. The only real problem is that because they cost more, you'll have less of them -- meaning that casualties will hurt much more and you'll lose combat effectiveness much faster.

Gaunts can't have Enhanced Senses anymore.

Seems to me that becoming casualties is what gaunts are for.
    Poor gaunts...
