    Mutations

No doubt you have all not got the new codex (or are getting it soon).

What I thought would be good was a thread where we can share different biormorph combos to see what we can all expand our Hive Fleets with.

    First off

    Carnifex - Unnamed Varient

    Carnifex Genus
    Adrenal Glands
    Tusked
    Reinforced Chitin
    Extended Carapace
    Bonded Exoskelleton
    Scything Tallons
    Scything Tallons
    Toxin Sacks
    Tail Weapon - Scythe
    Spine Banks

    Total - 196 Pts

That gives me 4 basic attacks, +2 attacks on the charge, + D3 half S attacks. To top that off, the fex gets 2 Spinefist attacks in the shooting phase before it charges.

With 5 wounds, Toughness 7 and a 2+ save the fex may just about last long enough to get into assault with something

You probably mean scything talons, not rending claws. Note that bonus attacks for talons do not count towards the number of shots that x-weapons can fire.

I think extended carapace and +1 toughness will serve you a lot better than regeneration.

It might be more wirthwhile to see some Carni's that are under 115 points, so can be taken as Elites. There are some pretty nifty ones....

    barbed Strangler <20>
    scything talons <8>

    = 113

Its only BS2, so it will only hit a third of the time, but when it does it it should pack a punch, plus its pretty damned cheap for what you get.

I prefer close combat weapons for cheap carnifices, like these:
    2*scythes
    mace tail
    flesh hooks
    107pts

The mace tail also might be replaced with adrenal glands and miasma, dependin on how one reads the miasma rules.

Or this one, for maximum resilience:
    scything talons, rending claws
    W+1
    flesh hooks
    113pts

These would be used just to sto,p ahead of the more valuable pointwise fragile ones, soaking up fire and blocking LOS. Preferably in a team of two. I don't expect more than one to arrive at the enemy lines, but if my opponent wants to use his entire firepower of two turns to take out 230pts worth of elite carnifices, then that's fine in my books. If he ignores them, then

Another interesting configuration would be this:
    2 scythes
    WS adrenal glands
    Toxic Miasma
    Flesh hooks

It hits marines on 3+ if they are affected by the miasma (the rules of miasma are a bit unclear about what happens in multiple combats, but if only such carnifices are there the situation is clear) and causes maximum damage in close combat for such a cheap 'fex.
