First of all sorry if this is in the wrong area, I'm a new poster, longtime reader of LO.
My army so far looks like this:
1x Necron Lord, Resurrection Orb, Veil of Darkness
1x Necron Lord, Resurrection Orb, Phylactery
This equals out to be about 850-900 pts. Any help you can give me on what to buy next, or if I need to make any changes to this list would be appreciated.
PS. I have some money, but I'm not rolling in cash, so make the additions with that in mind
Even with a resurrection orb, the second Lord doesn't make up for the points you spend on it. 5 Immortals is a much better way to use those points, Or if you are against some heavy firepower, low numbers-style army, possibly Wraiths. Kudos on the Destroyers, they never let me down.
what i would do for 1000 points is something like this
the better wwb roll
staff of light
10 immortals 280
So, what sort of army do you want? Do you want a basic army, or do you want some sort of theme? Do you want to use a Monolith or a C'tan? Or do you want lots of Destroyers?
A lot of people just use 2 squads of Warriors, and at most usually 2 squads of 20. But, if you want to, you can go for more, they aren't that bad of a unit. Most people like Immortals, and lots of them. They have great shooting.
Most people use the following: A lord and/or a C'tan. Immortals. Only 2 squads of warriors. Destroyers. Heavy Destroyers or a Monolith.
But, that is most people, if that's not your bag you can always theme your army.
Thanks for the suggestion on dropping the second necron lord, I was actually thinking about running a monolith, but now I'm not so sure they are worth it, and I don't want to shell out $40+ on something I won't use. I am thinking about buying more warriors and immortals, but how many more? Are wraiths really that good, considering the rest of my army remains pretty much stationary and fires, and the wraith would run in and get hit by all of my opponent's tough CC units. Keep in mind that I play mostly Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines and all of their subdivisions, with an Eldar player and an Imperial Guard player thrown into the mix. If I wanted to up to 1500 pts., is 8 Immortals a good number?
Also, should I buy 2 more destroyers and run 2 groups of 3, or leave them in the current 1 group of 4. And give your opinion on scarabs, I forgot to tell you they have Disruption Fields.

ANY Immortals are good. 5 is small, the minimum, but i was trying to get it to fit in your smaller battle force. I only have 5, and in a recent battle where I had 2000 points, the enemy concentrated their fire enough to destroy them and make it impossible to WBB. I do put stock in wraiths, just because they can get in combat on the second turn. just move them up using terrain, and drop them on a smaller, shooty unit.Originally Posted by SEBattle2
My monolith is good for only one thing... soaking up fire that could be used to blow up warriors without a chance for WBB. In the six or so battles that I've taken it in, the worst the enemy has done is immoblize it, which didn't even matter. it soaked up so many lascannon and rocket shots that the rest of my force was left largely intact. But I don't suggest using it in battles less than 1500 points.
Ok how about this for a revised list:
1x Necron Lord, Resurrection Orb, Veil of Darkness
5x Scarabs, Disruption Fields

Yes, wraiths are good, but they are Close Combat oriented. Most people preffer to go for a shooting based army. I play straight Destroyers, but I like to do things like that. To me, it was either straight Destroyers or straight Wraiths and Flayed Ones. I chose Destroyers because they require more models (making my army able to be far larger), and have more punch.
I would go for just getting another Battleforce for the Warriors, and some more Destroyers, and hey, a few Scarabs.
Oh, and an easy way to get 6 Immortals for pretty cheap is to just buy a box of Warriors, and cut the arms off half of the guns and then attatched the gun to the other half. It would take a bit of shaving and sanding, but it's pretty cheap.
I would say get another Battleforce, a box of Warriors (to make Immortals), a Monolith, 3 Wraiths. That would give you 40 warriors, 8/7 Destroyers (depending on if you get the American or European Battle Force), 6 Immortals, 3 Wraiths, and a Monolith. You should be bordering on 1500 points by then. When you decide to expand you could get a C'tan if you want, but remember that they will bring the number of Necrons you have down.
It's always good to have tons of Necrons, that way you won't phase out. Which is why I, if I were you, would not get the Monolith and instead op for some more Warriors, or Destroyers, or... well any other Necron.

That's a good idea, I think I may run some more destroyers, but I also want to try out the wraiths, I've heard they are really powerful. What you said about the cheap Immortals, you are saying to attach the gun to the body directly with no arm?
