    Tau transport

I've heard there is a new tau transport done by forge world which is either the piranah or the tetra. Can either of these actually take troops inside them, particularly pathfinders? And if so can they get out and operate as normal then get back in later?

I haven't gotten my hands on a copy of Imperial Armour 2004, which has the rules for it, but I'm guessing no on both counts seeing how they can only hold about 2 to 3 units in them, and that's not enough for a squad of...well...anything.

Record as of 26 December for my Static Tau Cadre.
    10 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw.
Last game: Victory over Necron in a 600 point "kill em all" that lasted til turn 10 ending with a phase out.

I'm actually thinking of etherals or pathfinders as opposed to units because etherals are so weak and it says that the piranah is used for transporting formalities.

No, they're basically just Tau versions of SM Land Speeders, except with about 68% more suck.

Neither Tetra's or piranhas have any transport capacity.

However Forgeworld have produced the Orca Dropship, which can basically take a whole cadre! And the Tiger Shark which carries Gun Drones. Perhaps these are what you heard of?

I think he means the orca dropship... it holds up to 12 fire-warriors, 4 crisis suits, and some gundrones, if I'm not mistaken...

I thought it held 24 Fire Warriors. But whatever, it holds Fire Warriors.

Yea, and it costs like 500 dollars.

From the recent Forge World Catalogue, the Orca comes with 24 seated firewarriors, 8 drones, 6 Battlesuits, I ethereal and 3 crew. Cost: $525 US, 275 pounds, o r 465 euros

Would get one for myself but alas, lack of money and time to spend on such a project. it's usefulness in combat sees very slim too. Great for fluff though.

It's a nice thing, and cool to use in large battles (since it carries a complete battleforce... well, almost), but it is indeed expensive, and probably not really worth it...
