Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well i just got my hands on the new codex and love everything we got except for one thing - they put a rule in that leaping != beasts and therefore leaping warriors no longer get fleet of claw. However, with the exception of my carnifex and zoanthropes, everything else will be trudging ahead!: my winged hive tyrant, raveners, and gaunts, and now genestealers. So the problem i see now is that i only have synapse from my hive tyrant as they are the only synapse that can keep up with the little guys.
So my question is, should warriors go to strictly shooting or should i still use my cc warriors and just have them come in during the 2nd wave to clean house?
You could give them wings.
My hate is contagious...
Yup wings upgrade isnt that much more expensive than the leaping uprgade, so if your worried about warriors keeping up, maybe wings are the way to go, i think warriors are very usefull to the swarm now, there no longer as Fragile as they were, and synapse controll is double important because of the NO hive nodes rule.
Army of the heavens, my army waits in hell
To battle on the earth, for all the souls who fell
There is also the broodlord, which can Infiltrate and supply you with Synapse on the other side of the board.
If you're worried about your gaunts getting too far ahead of Synapse, hold them back a bit. Synapse still extends a foot, and with the Warriors movement you should be able to stay in Synapse even if the Gaunts charge. OR you could hold the gaunts until the Warriors are in charge range, and then have them carge the same unit.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. Und from owur home planet, de stayte uf Califowurnia, ve vill lawunch owur mighty offensive. Even if you kill us, ve'll be bach!! Gyauayauyauyauyau!
-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
If this is true, it will make me sad. I liked the rules for warriors with wings being fast and then warriors with leaping being elites, they could rush forward and just decimate everything. You could be a nearly entirely warriors army, it was great.
But, I've no idea what the new bonus' are in the rest of the army, so it could be made up elsewhere.
But anyway, that stinks...
I was a underwelmed at the Warrior change. The non-instant kill means it will take 2 shots to kill them. Losing the extra 1d6' move with leaping is *&^% and to top it off the bimorph upgrades cost more. The bioweapons are a great improvement - against lightly armoured troops, but 60 to 70% of people I play are SMurfs or Chaos SMurfs.
Compare them to Terminators which have a similar cost. Their 2+ saves means they save against Krak missiles and heavy bolters etc. Even against AP2 weapons they get a 5+ invulnerability save. They can ALWAYS deep strike. And they get the best infantry weapons in the game. Auto cannons mow down gaunts & can kill any hard target.
GW has stated many times that the gaunts are meant to have synapse support, primarily from Warriors. All gaunts get fleet. So how the heck is a leader meant to controll his followers if they are out of range in 2 turns?
Warriors are now nothing more than expensive 'stealers with synapse & 2 wounds. If fact 2 'steals are cheaper with better stats AND get fleet.
Sorry for the long rant.
I and many other 'nids players have never lost all my synapse creatures. Having a Tyrant with 2 guard is very hard to take down. If they are working on your Tyrant then your warriors will get overlooked.
With the loss of hive nodes for gaunts. You will HAVE to back them up with synaspe and unfortunately leapy warriors lost their 1D6' move. Now literally everyone will have a Broodlord or players will have to convert flying warriors and tyrants to have a chance to keep forward units like Lictors, Raveners & Gaunts in synapse. Shooty warriors are good against light armour & lightly armoured troops. CC warriors with leaping are popular. Keep your warrior broods cheap, small and in cover.
well if you start the warrior the same distance from the table edge as the gaunts are (like if there in a line, and the warriors are somewhere in the gaunt line)
EX = gaunt=. warrior=o so a ling like this ..............o.o.o....... you get what i mean
it is impossible for them to be out of synapse range even if you roll 6 for fleet for both tunes, cause synapse is 12 inch. you could move 12 inches ahead of the warrios by the end of the 2nd turn, but not more that 12 unless you had a charge somewhere, which they dont worry about behavior in combat, or unless you has some difficult terrain problem. yes it is annoying, but not that big ofr deal if your careful. i really like the new warriors, ya the leaping part is disapointing, but they have so many things you can do with them now.
the only reason i dont take wings is because im a huge beleaver in the upgrade to 4+ save, i like my modles to get save agains the most abundant and most common weapons, lol i learned this from playing IG then switching to tau, the 5+ to 4+ sv diffrent is imence.

i feel Warriors have lost it, F of C was the best thing to happen to them, as for winged you can't increase there save and it's 4 point more per warrior than leaping !
If it lives it will be consumed
If you want to compare warriors and termis make statistics. I you assautl 5 termi with 4-5leaping rending warriors. Termis will be salughterd by warriors. So we must hide the warriors until they can assult or make the enemy fear and shoot our nasty gaunts.Originally Posted by Zerling
