I just wanted other pplz opinion on if WYCHES are worth it?, Well they are quite cheap in points. Their initiative is 6 ok that has gotta mean sumthing. They all have combat drugs. Most things about them is great but the 6+ save now that is pathetic. :mad:
So post something on your opinions and on tactics for using them. :cool:
read teh update for them they are now 12 points eacha nd have a 4+ inv save while in CC.
Yes! As a Necron player I'm forced to avoid these things at all costs. Trust me, if u have to fight 3+ save armies, wyches will serve you well.
why is that exatly they dont have power weapons
You don't need power weapons to take down marines. Three normal attacks are just as effective as one power weapon attack. Furthermore the succubus can have quite a powerful type of power weapon...the good old agonizer.
but they are base 1 attacks so you can only get 3 on the charge or with a combat drug roll of a 6
I plan on having my HQ with an agonizer and my subccous with a punisher both together
Well ive got 6 wyches i havent used them yet though. They are armed with
2xWyches - Blasters
1xSuccubus - Agoniser,Splinter Pistol
3xWyches - Splinter pistol, CCW
Now ive gotta work out how im gonna use them.
Wyches are base 1 attack +1 for ccw and pistol and on the charge +1 for charging, they are fast adn will be mounted on a raider (unless your mad) so will always get the charge, with the +1 A drug thats 4 attacks per wyche on the charge, the succubus gets agoniser attacks (again essential wargear) which kill so very easily. As far as teh save is concerned, it only counts fro shooting so don't let your opponent shoot them.
And don't forget the wych weapons special habilities. Is always good to halve enemy skill and reduce its number of attacks.
Wyches worth its points if they are played as master karantalsis said, in a raider with a tooled up succubus.
Punishers and Agonizers are meant to take out different types of units. Mixing the weapon types means trading maximum effectiveness for slight versatility (just food for thought).
Anyway, Wytches are a tarpit unit, if you are having trouble using them to annihilate your opponent the least they should be doing for you is tying up his best squad(s) in hth. Wytches can survive a log time in hth agaist just about anything.
Wytches with blasters effectively mean you are paying points for those models to lose 1 attack in CC. Hopefully you have enough Dark Lances that you won't miss 2 blaster wytches. Blasters on wytches are much like flamers for me; only expect to get off one shot per game because you'll be (or should be) in HtH after that. I don't think blasters are worth the points.
I've never tried to use less than 8 wytches, you'll probably find they aren't too effective in low numbers.
