I finally got both my nid battleforce and my nid army boxes... Spend the whole weekend readin the codex. For most of my units I already decided what to do, and than I got 9 warriors???
I have no experience playing nids whatsoever. I need some advise on how to model my warriors. Do I make them CC or Anti-tank or just shooty? Most of the time I will be playing against SMurfs or Tau.
I am really looking forward commanding this army... and beat up the SMurfs once again.
Hive of Beleg
Narbilu Hordes and Warmachines
Trollblood - 36 models - 1500 pnt
Khador - 65 models - 2193 pnt
Cryx - 67 models - 1446 pnt
Narbilu Games Workshop
High Elves - 58 models
Eldar - 65 models
only nine warriors...hmmm...i know that from the old codex(havent got new yet, but cant waight) that warriors were in broods of three, so you could possibly try three of each, (3 shooty, 3 fighty and 3 tank hunters). although it would give u variety, your squads would not have much staying power.
i would seriously consider taking weapons with the Living Ammunition rule tho
Go the Lizardmen Host of Quetzl, complete with loads of Skinks and Saurus....Death to Chaos
Space Marine Chapter Master.........of the..........
I still need a name for him.....and his Chapter.....but he has a combi weapon and a Power Chain
I wouldnt take broods of only 3. They dont do enough Damage. Since you're playing Tau, i wouldn't have them close combat as there isnt gonna be a whole lot left when they get there. Give them extended carapace, toxin sacs and enhanced senses. Then either give them a Deathspitter and sything talons or Devourer and scything talons. And its always worth giving one a Venom Cannon. This unit should be able to lay down some decent firepower on both Smurfs and Tau.
No against tau cc is good! Never try and out shoot tau with tyranids!!!!! Big mistake! Try tooling them up for cc and give them leaping and ec. I know leaping is slower than it used to be but trust me you need the 4+ armor save, especially against tau. Also since they are slightly slower and shoot the big ones is gone, they will have to take a leadership test for shooting at your warriors plus when they do any gaunts you have will be closer than the warriors and not many tau players are willing to allow their troops to get into cc no matter how weak the ones assaulting are, tau lose anyway.
Against smurfs, I still think that rending, leaping warriors are the best. Now with the sligthly slower warriors, which I am starting to see as an advantage since gaunts can't get that far away from fleet, the guys will have to take yet another test, even though their leadership is high is just another way to limit the amount of attacks your warriors will recieve. Also Smurfs are almost as shooty as tau so out shooting them with a cc army is going to be hard. I have had 3 warriors rip apart the smurfs in one round of cc. They are good.

I think they will make combat especialy if you put a brood of 32 super fast gaunts in front of them.
Warrior47 whats with all the exclamation marks? undeline stuff or put it in italics.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
Actually, against Tau, units of 3 Warriors will do quite well, especially if you field 3 of them. With the upgrade to Nid's saves and the Synapse/InstaKill rule, target saturation is now the order of the day. Give your enemy too many targets and he won't be able to effectivly reduce your numbers. I think 2 units of HtH leapers and 1 unit of HtH or shooty flyers will do well. Throw in a Lictor or two and a Carnifex with the W and T upgrades and guns, then flood him with gaunts and Stealers. And if you have the points for it, a Ravener or 2 won't hurt either. With their speed, saves, and numbers, Tau are going to have a difficult time with the Nids now.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. Small units of flying Scytal/RC warriors. You can close with his shooty units. Small squads will be easier to hide in terrain.

Well if you do do fliers they are toast. Both of the basic troops your facing have guns that are ap5 so your warriors are dead. A 4+ save is a must for warriors.
