Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well Im happy with our new codex, I do wish to hear some other opinions though. I'll list my concerns below.
Lictors seem very vunerable I doupt they could ever stand 1 round with 10 guardsmen.
I'll be using lictors just to take out light vechiles now.
I'm still waiting for the Broodlord model to be relised so I haven't been able to use him yet, though I'm sure he wont disapoint.
Also does anyone else find themself spending unnesesary points on there Hive Tyrants and Carnifexs. I'de also like some advice on what weapons to give my fex. I'm thinking no CC weapons because they only need 1 attack to take out a tank.
the weapon choices i have for my Fex....
Venom Cannon and scything talons
since i don't have the new Fex and i am not very creative those do pretty well......i took down a monolith from about 24 inches.........guess i had good rolls
You're right about the lictor, it was nerfed in terms of survivability. However, now, you dont have to declare where he is beforehand so if your opponent places a heavy weapons squad close to cover, sucks for him. And, if your playing reserves, a lictor is useful since you can reroll your reserve roll once per turn, EVEN IF THE LICTOR'S DEAD.
If you wanted to, there's broodlord models out on ebay. I just converted a 3rd ED tyrant guard. It looks allright.
As for a fex, i'd get rid of the talons and all the CC stuff and give him a strangler or a TL dev. This has been discussed already. Fexes are slow and firemagnets anyways so why bother giving him stuff that won't be used anyways. And besides, i mostly use mine to rip apart vehicles anyways
meh, yeah carnies attract firepower, but cc is all carnies are good for (mabey barbed strangler against guard or sumfin but that s a given...). if i want firepower, go warpblast. what do you think the ratio is for ppl playing power armour and tanks compared to scummy orks, eldar etc, like a mill to 1? u want those extra attacks! i agree on goin as cheap as possible with em though... cheap spinegaunts with scuttlers and WN, genie's w scuttlers n ex cara, hive tyrant, 1-3 carnies is the way. using speed and numbers, large synapse range (with zoanthroapes n hivies) for a fealess army and more smaller units u will scare the oppenent and make him stuff up, or make it extremely difficult to stop everything he wants to. Lictors rule, i never play with less than 2! they're too disruptful for those camping scouts/rangers/broadsides/defilers etc and the opponent knows it. not that they can stop 'em appearing where u want

eh, a fex will rip anything apart in CC, if he gets there. they usually die off beforehand. I suppose you can try to distract your opponent into shooting something else but i'd rather just have the fex lay down cover fire (although i must admit, 13 attacks in the first turn of CC is kinda scary)

with the new rules in place........can you imagine that look on the other players face when you drop 6 carnies on the table!!!!
I thikn the Lictors only purpose now is to take out heavyweapons teams as was said by dymew, though also the basalisk as the basilisk is often if not always place behind terran.
thanks for pointing out that the lictor can allow re-rolls for reserves even after dying.
and I may well be checking E-bay tonigh to see if htere are any good Broodlords.

TAU suck, Blood angels rule
Yes very very scary indeed.I hope i never come up against that many carnies, but if i do then they will be met by ALOT of heavy weapons!Originally Posted by gunslinger2005
Yeah I would have to agree with you on the heavy weapons.......but if you are wasting all your rounds on the minimum 24 wounds , those are rounds that aren't heading into that squad of genestealers that is coming your way........and not to mention that Lictor that will deepstrike into that squad next turn (if they are near a terrain piece that is)then again if you have a Lictor I guess your Carnie count would be at 5 so i guess 20 wounds :p
Then if your opponent has that nasty broodlord and his retinue ....there is another problem any 'rear' echelon type units will have can you imagine somebody fielding 5 squads of 'Stealers (one that has infiltrate)....then they could have one of those spore mine clusters drop in on ya...........eh don't mind me i'm ranting.....what to do with my nids...
