Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been collecting dark eldar for quite along time, infact i have just under 4000 points but does it not seem that dark eldar are becoming obsolete. All the new codexes are absolutely amazing and my kabal is certainly lagging behind.
To make my army less obsolete i use the vehicle design rules which are also considered obsolete. So i have an out of date army that i am updating with out of date rules. Makes sense doesn't it?
This really takes a lot of the fun out of the game for me because i dont really want to shelf my kabal but dark eldar are starting to look like their harlequin cousins.
Yes i have heard that a new eldar/dark eldar codex is coming out but that really isnt enough. Dark eldar should be properly remade into a deadly fast close combat army that it was before. they shouldnt be combined with some other book without their own uniqeness.
Huff. oh well roll on the future
Yes i have herd the rumors to. Sad isnt it they just come out with a new race and kill an old one
Guess that is just the cycle.
Look onthe bright side you may have access to some of the cool eldar choices, maybe
But if you ask me I find that darkeldar armies are very fragile to play and require great skill in order to use effectivly which is why they are very unpopular, as you can just play some of the other races and have more leway(spelling anyone ??).
Anyway i dont think that they will kill off the race entirely as their was just a GW battle report with them in it recently. They jsut need some new models to bring back some players.

There was actually an interview posted on portent a transcript wehre it was stated taht the DE range would be redone and they would get their own new codex, no time was fixed. This was last discussed months ago, proved then dropped I think the theread may still be knocking around the rumours board, of course teh links to the transcript on portent won't work anymore.
hmm Dark eldar's future is definetly uncertain but they should have a total overhaul because they are good but they dont make the grade
do you think it is alright to use the vdr rules though? (they are from about the same time)
The DE codex is supposedly pretty far off. There's another post (under rumors I think) of a guy who got info from a GW playtester. Apparently the next codex is the BT codex with lots of anti-ork rules. Then comes the new ork codex. (same thing with the anti tyranid marines and then the nids' codex) Anyway after those two they still have to do the quick update of the tau codex THEN they are doing the eldar races since they need the most work. This is completely unofficial as per the guys post. Check it out if you want. (hopefully the inquisition will come after him not me).
dark eldar obsolete?!?! Don't make me laugh man.
Dark eldar are still as kick ass as they once did, new codexes or not.
So the SM libarian got cheaper, so what?! Fry his ass with a lord.
The LRC giving you problems? Dark lance him to hell.
The hive tryant *pah* meet the agonizer.
Genestealers and broodlord getting you down? Wynches, nuff said.
Gaunts without number? Splinter rifles/cannons.
My point: The dark eldar are still as effective as they once were. So what if the lord and the wynches are close combat monsters, that doesn't make them anything like the harelquins. Don't over look the fact that the dark eldar still have some nice fire power. AND the dark eldar are still a fast close combat terror. AND I highly doubt that GW would mix the races into one codex. How stupid would that be?
While both armies kick ass in CC the harequlins are a much smaller and specilised force, the dark eldar on the other hand can also shoot a lot, use more transports, and generally get more out of life than the harelquins.
In short: No need to fear, let the kabal loose, in fact I think you'll have a better time playing now that most people underestimate the eldar races.
If you're worried about the models than I have to say that the dark eldar warriors are one of the best looking troops and the ravagers and raiders are some of the best looking tanks in the game. In my opinion at least.

yes, what K said was very true. the DE are very powerful. Our codex may be old, but our firepower is still fantastic, our Wyches still dominate virtually all other CC specialists, and our raiders are still some of the fastest vehicles around.
We may lack armour and strength, but we make up in firepower, speed, maneuverability, and overall killing efficacy.
Choices (N) in the dark eldar army list i do not feel there is enough choice. I am fed up of taking stick from other players and D-eldar are fairly...Predictable.
i dunno. Im lost.
I really can't think of anything witty to say.
