First post....been playing nids in some form since 2nd edition....
From an efficiency standpoint, the best gaunt is the 6 point basic termagant. However, I'm considering using a basic gaunt with scuttler and spinefist for 7 pts. The idea is that you use the 6 inch scout move and move them directly at the enemy. This ensure turn 2 shots against opponents playing farther back, crazy movement if you fleet of foot for 2 turns (6" scout+6"+fleet+6"+fleet+6 in charge) That's almost the speed of a hormagaunt, while still packing a decent shooting punch. Against marines, you'll probably use them to get into hth as soon as possible and against t3 stuff you'll do just fine since you'll hit a lot with twin-linked. What do you guys think of this idea?
uhhh, there is a new codex out, the basic gaunt is now 4 points and a teramagant is now 9 points....
You don't have to take without number....Basic gaunt + fleshborer is a termagant
The extra points per model will most likely be a waste since all it will really do is put the gaunts in range when nothing else is. They will probably end up slaughtered. Gaunts should be fleshy targets to get your big boys closer IMO.
Here are some Tyranid items I have going on Ebay!
