What do ppl think of poison kinves? A lord with those and Shadowfield could take down the nightbringer i think. Any reason why they're not used much?
They don't ignore armor saves... which is one of the advantages of characters, you can equip them with some kind of power weapon
It's one of the reason regular eldar HQs are not that good, they have weapons that wound on 2+, but still allows for armor saves.
Of course, against a necron god you're better off with poisoned blades since their save is invulnerable anyway, but since they ignore ALL saves, invulnerable or not, your Archon is squishy after their first attack round, in all likelihood.
Also, you can use an agoniser, which has less chance to wound but ignores saves.
You could technically take both. . . You wouldn't be able to use them at the same time, but it would give you an alterative weapon if one is better against a certain unit.
Excellent point, at 5 points they,re pretty cheap too
Hmmm... I never really considered them before. Not ignoring armour saves always didn't seem good enough to me (and even if you give the Archon a power weapon he has to use one weapon or the other) However, seeing as they're only 5 pts if I've got a few points to spare then I may as well give it to a few Sybarites or my Archon as an option, especially f fighting Nids (or a C'tan)
easy solution, give a archon an agoniser, posioned blades and a tormentor helm, this way he will still get +1 attack with the agoniser and the choice of using posioned blades
