Does anyone have any thoughts on this forge world vehicle?
I've used it in many games and find them to be great at:
A) blocking line of sight
with fusion blasters good medium tank hunters
C) good at completly blocking squads
D)with fusion blasers good independant character killers
I would recommend them, but test them with proxies first to see if you like them.
Ace Of Spades, Skimmers don't block line of sight, unless immobilised, so I don't see how they are effective that way.
Pirahna's seem alright, but there low points cost rockets if you start giving them upgrades, and IMO a multitracker is a must on all Tau vehicles but that increases the cost by 20%. I'd take them if they counted as fast or could deep strike, but as they are now I don't think they're worth it. Forge World make great models, but the rules aren't always that great IMHO.
They seem like fun, and a cool troop choice to break up the monotony of my devilfish mounted fire warrior squads. Maybe just using the burst cannons with a multitracker and maybe a target lock as a standin for the firewarriors.
Damn your right, I have a habit of just skimming rules and missing alot. all vehicle BUT skimmer block LOS. thx
Well, since no one else seems to have any thoughts, I've come to the conclusion that aren't too bad, 55 points for fast moving burst cannon and a pair of gun drones isn't to bad. Of course with the multi-tracker and the targetting arrary upgrades they run 70 points each but that's not to bad for a BS 4 burst cannon and 2 sets of TL pulse carbines. Sure a squad of fire warriors will generate a lot more fire, but I can see some use as mobile fire power to reinforce a FW squad that needs it. Also they might do pretty well with fusion blasters because they can get the targetting array upgrade and shouldn't have too much trouble getting near stuff, but it's a pretty expansive Fusion Blaster when you can just take a crisis in stead.
Anyway, they're good and fluffy with a mech force so maybe I'll add a squad of 3 to my army just to get some variety in troops choice.
