I'm not sure how the whole thing with the Tyrant Guard works. I heard that a guard can only be assigned to guard a tyrant, but may also be taken as a second HQ choice if there is another one guarding a tyrant. I am also told that a carnifex may join a lone tyrant guard, but my question is can you have a carnifex join a tyrant guard's squad if it is currently guarding a tyant, and if so, then how does it work as far as the guard protecting people? Both, only one? Correct what I said if any of this is wrong.
Reading from the codex...I believe it says the Tyrant can only take Guard as a retinue at +45 points. Nothing about 'fexes...sorry :p
In the new codex, Tyrant Guard come only as a retinue for the Tyrant. There is no other way to have them in your army.
Monsterous creatures can no longer join other units.
ok thanks for your help guys, thats too bad, i was hoping the guard coul dhelp my fex out
Hey mojo666, can you point me to a reference? I've looked but can't find any rule for this in the BGB. :confused:Originally Posted by mojo666
You are still right but (I think) for the wrong reason. The Hive Tyrant cannot join the Carnifex or vice versa as neither of them is an independent character.
There is no exact rule stating they cannot, but the only reason they were allowed to join units in the previous codex is because that codex had a special rule allowing them to do so. Those rules no longer apply.
Only Independent Characters can join other units. The Tyrant and the Carnifex in the old codex were a combination of Monstrous Creatures and 3rd Edition Independent Characters. The new Tyrant and Carnifex are -just- Monstrous Creatures.Originally Posted by Lleu
Thanks mojo666 and Ostsol, I started playing with 4th edition so am not aware of how 3rd edition nids used to work. Cheers.
