Hey everyone, pretty soon I am gonna have a match with a friend of mine, he uses Tau and Witch hunters, I don't know which one he will use(Most likely witch hunters) but i was wondering if i could gets some tips on fighting him, I play as Alaitoc eldar, here is my Army list
( Alaitoc Eldar)Army List Here
Here's my tactics when I play them: (I list almost every comment i dont know why )
1) Make sure he uses his Spirit of the Martyr (the invulnerable save) in the shooting phase BEFORE any actual shooting occurs, I have caught a few SoB players trying to do it right after shooting has started and before I have shot with my Reapers. He shouldn't do it during the assault phase as you don't have much assault.
2) Do you know what he's going to bring to the table? If you could type up a rough army list that he will use that would be great.
3) You shouldn't be really planning against people. The point of the game is to have fun and what makes it challenging is not knowing what units/tanks/models you're up against. I have to admit though, we all do little planning against our friends so it's ok.
~Try to complete #2 though so we can tell you what to watch out for, and what to go for.
With either army howling banshees, and starcannon vypers are going to be highly effective, HB just cut through SoB and Tau like no tomorrow, I once played a tau friend and my banshees,a 10 man strong squad, came out of a wave serpent, and ripped through 4 squads of fire warriors before they died. Against either it goes without saying, star cannons istant kill SoB. Against tau I would use lots of eldar rocket launchers, they instance kill suits and easily pin fire warriors
No, they don't actually. HBs cut through SoB, I mean. Banshees have to position themselves relitively close if they want to charge. This will allow the WH player to use spirit of the martyr. Since the banshees will end up killing about 3 sisters, the return attack is devistating, and banshees are not good at surviving. I play both armies and I have repeatedly managed to take on full banshee squads PLUS Jain Zar, with a canoness and some celestians. Because of faith, I've won every time. Against witch hunters, it is best to try to get plenty of starcannons. These you can sit a long ways away, and whichever squads aren't inv. Saved, will get hit by the starcannons.Originally Posted by Raider615
However, expect to be repeatedly frusteraded by the inv. saves. It is sheer overwhelming firepower as well as wasting your enemies faith that will make you win. Once the faith is gone, you're laughing.
You have just recieved the Amish Computer Virus. Since the Amish don't have computers, it is based on the honor system. So please delete all the files from your computer. Thank you for you cooperation.

Be sure to take Mind War and pick out Veteran Sister Superiors, because then his squads can't use Faith. Instead of Howling Banshees, try out some Fire Dragons, although slightely more expensive, they wont get trashed in CC, will kill a lot of Sisters, and Instant-Kill their Characters, not to mention making short work of their tanks. Sisters of Battle don't generally have a lot of CC attacks, and unless it's a Character, these are S3 attacks which allow saves, so perhaps you can just mob them with a large Storm Squad. A Sisters player probably wont use Faith to decrease Guardian Defenders effectiveness, because they will underestimate them. Take a couple of small squads and run up and nail them at short range (small squad: 9 Guardians, Warlock, Close Combat Weapon, Shuriken Pistol, Destructor). Striking Scorpions may be a better choice than Banshees because if Sisters use the Inv Save, it wont make a differece, and Scorpions have more attacks to pump out and better survivablity. A Scorpion Exarch with Crushing Blow and a Biting Blade will make a nice mess of any Sister multi-wound Character. You could try using the Avatar to help with general combat effectiveness, but whether it's worht it is up to you. Seeing as the Sisters will try an engage you at medium range (their weapons most effective range) a D-Cannon Battery may be exceedingly useful - not particulalry expensive, indirect fire, and the most powerful weapon in our arsenal.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
