Welcome to Librarium Online!
oki this night me and my friend played.. and since im kinda new i wanna know what i did do wrong.. since the game ended a victorius slaugther.. we were playing a secure and hold mission.
i choose side first and well mighty have choosen the wrong side..
my army was consiting of 2 warrior squads, 2 heavy destroyers, 4 destroyers, 5 immortals and a necron destroyer lord.
he got first turn.. and he killes 2 immortals and 2 destroyers with his blast something thing.. and nothing comes back in my first move i move some of my troops ahead to get on top of the mountan in front of me.. but i end up not beeing abel to shot since he is more then 12" away.. my heavy destroyers takes out a zoantorp. my immortals shot at his termagaunts (should probely shot at his genstealers) my other troops are to fare behind a mountain to shot at anything and my destroyers takes out some more termagaunts... so end of first turn he out shoots me.....
second turn. he charges my immortals and the first warriors squad. and they are tied up in combat. he shots down a heacy destroyer. and one destroyer.i shot back take out some genstealers and well that is about it.. so end of turn 2 he has out shot me again.. and my other warriors squad still haventy done anything.. they only took out some gen stealers.. still becuase of this mountain.. this is turn two.. i have lost 3 destroyers 1 heavy destroyer and 4 immortals.. he has lost 1 zoantorp a few genstealers and a few termagaunts
turn three he charges my other warriors squad around the mountain.. and im pretty much dead.. he charges with his hive tyrants and ties up the rest of my troops.
what i think i did wrong was i should have moved my troops much more.. my destroyers was well standing at one place all the time... and my second warrior squad should just probely runned of and shoot back.. same is for my immortals.. shot then run of.. he had realy luck with the dices. and i dident use the scenary at all.. alsow i played this game for like 1 week and he has for 5 years..so. but its realy frustrating ... i mean i dindet take out anything at all...
dont know if this is good explained.. plz ask.. i could realy need some help with my strats.. specialy against nids since my room mates play them..
are necron good matchup with nids ? or what?
Humm, can you give us a little more detalied info on your army list. What wargear you used, size of squads, ect. I'm willing to bet with a better army list you could modify your tactics to change the future outcome of games against him.
EDIT: I was looking over you report and come up with his list. While this list wouldn't be good against to many other opponents, the fact is your opponent is being just plain evil with 2 Tyrants and Zanthrobes in a 1000 point list. Lety him try this on for size.
This list is just a straight forward Phalanx formation. Advance the Nightbringer with the Warriors. Keep the Destroyers behind the Phalanx, then lash out with them when Guants or Stealers get in Range. Let the Tyrants come towards you, then let loose with the full force of the C'tan. That should work pretty well, even if he camps. Just make sure to keep advancing as he won't have anything that can out shoot you, and with the C'tan, out fight.

If i read correctly you said he had 2 Hive Tyrants(?). From experience playing Necrons against Nids i would say you either needed a C'Tan or about 4 more Heavy Destroyers. Hive Tyrants are awesome (or you could say they are rediculously overpowered). At 1000pts with 2 HTs your army didn't stand a chance.

as fare as i know.. nigthbringer is a special char? so i cant play with it in turnements and such? and so i dont think i should not play with it..
so my problem here is mainly he has a to good army against me??
my army list was:
HQ with res orb and destrotyer body
2x heavy destryoer
2x hive tyrant with some stash dont remember all..(warp blast at least)
2x zoanthorp (warp blast)
one goood gen stealer squad
one not so good gen steeal squad
1 hormagaunt squad
1 termagaunts squad
No, the Nightbringer is not a special charcter per se. It is completley legal in tournament play, and does not require your opponents permision in regualr play.Originally Posted by eladmirWell it looks like he made a list specificaly to beat either your army, or Necrons in General. For one thing, Necrons don't do great in games below 1500 points. Second, Tyrants in general will tear through Necrons at any point level so don't despair.Originally Posted by eladmirLet me show you a few things wrong with your army list. You have a Destroyer Body on the Lord for no apperant reason. First, thats 30 points that can be used elswhere. And second, you want your lord to be a foot lord so he can stay with your warriors and help make WBB rolls with the Res Orb. He's also great in CC. Destoyers are great against the nids when used right. Their fairly high number of attacks coupled with the fact that they will negate almost all of nids saves makes them wonderful. Just rember to keep them in a supporting role. Don't go jetting off where they will do no good. Also remeber to use their shots against large broods. Tyranids monsterous creatures don't make the best targets for destroyers so keep firing at those little bugs. Heavy destroyers are also great when used right. Like their smaller brothers, use Heavy D's against the Tyrants from as far a distance as possible, and obviously concentrate fire on one at a time. Lastly, why do you have Immortals foorsloggin across the board? I make it a general rule to never bring them unless they are paired with a lord that has the Veil of Darkness. But with your set up, I would suggest dropping them. Maybe make a list more like this.Originally Posted by eladmir

General suggestions: Well first off, you CAN beat this guy, just play it smartly. If he's using in cover and waiting for you, turn it back around on him. Use your faster moving desroyers to take out his units at range and make it a bug shooting gallery. Or he comes at you with everything he's got stand your ground. Conentrate fire on the big Tyrants when they become in range and crush the smaller bugs in force. I would suggest going with either the list I posted above or the Nightbringer list. Both lists will serve you well. If you want to stick with your list, drop the immortals and the destroyer body, and bring some Tomb Spyders. These guys can take out a Tyrants with their own monsterous creature status. If you have to drop the Heavy Destroyer as well to get more Tomb Spyders or regular destroyers thats fine as well. And maybe most important of all, keep coherancy in your army. Advance together and deal with threats as they come. Well I hope that extrmely long post helped. Good Luck.

I think wraiths might be a different way of handling things. A unit of three wraiths could chew and cut their way through most medium sized tyranid units, and their strength six attacks could be used against a big creature if things got desparate. Yes, they are expensive, but they will stick around even from attacks that negate armour saves (which 'nids seem to be able to do from time to time.) If you want to keep your necron lord on that destroyer body, have him join the wraiths, and they will do even more in combat.
My friend plays Necrons, and I Tyranids, and we have the exact opposite problem. In all the games we've played, working up to 1000 pts, I haven't been able to beat him yet.
Granted, I don't have 2 HT's, but that's probably for the best.
This is how he does it:
Get two squads of warriors, as big as you really feel like making them. Throw in Destroyers, particularly the Heavy kind (AP 2 is bad news). Fill out the rest of the list as necessary, as long as you have a Lord with the Rez Orb.
Then he deploys as far back and off to the side of his zone as he can.
And then wait. Shoot at anything that gets within range, though leave your Heavy Destroyers/ Destroyers for the bigger, more obnoxious targets (Say, those HTs)
The HTs can either get Warp Field, or Extended Carapace & Warp Blast to get a 2+ save. If they have Warp Blast, no Warp Field, so they have to use the EC to get that, which means no invulnerable save. They're also slow, without the wings. You can get in plenty of shots at them.
And the annoying part of the strategy.
When the Tyranids finally assault one of the warrior squads (for me, usually after Destroyers are well good and dead), have the Lord join the other one, and press the assault from the other side. The two units should be close enough to both benefit from the Rez Orb.
The killer bit here is the Lord. Normal Necron Warriors aren't going to do much against most Tyranid units. I assaulted with Spinegaunts (5pt troops! woo!) and only lost 1 per turn against the regular warriors. (Granted, I took out... one warrior with eight of them, but...)
HTs go down to the Lord's power weapon, and the wounds get shunted off into the hapless warriors nearby. And with the Rez Orb... they come back!
We were at 600 pts for a while, and with this strategy, I killed ... 8 Necron Warriors & 1 Tomb Spyder, at the most. One game I killed 1 Scarab Swarm, and 1 Necron Warrior... (that was sad)
Things have evened out a little bit more at 1000 pts, but I still have yet to win.
