Welcome to Librarium Online!
Generally Hivefleet Mordacii does not have too much of a problem with chaos in general, but this guy at my local hobby center has recently become a real potential thorn in my side.
Most of his army is pretty nondescript chaos undivided, save for his hq and elites.
That being said, its his hq that will be a problem. Apparently he's figured out a way to coax 8+ attacks from his khornite chaos lord. It's equiped with the bezerker glaive so it always blood rages, and has demonic flight for extra movement. I'm talking about a potential 30" assault move!. The Galive is a power weapon, to make matters worse. My only saving grace would be to splatter him with a carni, only the collar of khorn makes him impossible to insta kill.
This guy is a cc monster that I've seen wipe out entire blood angels tac squads by himself. I mean he killed two squads in three turns. Bad Mojo.
Any suggesstions in beating this guy would be greatly appriciated. I'll do my best to pry his exact Lord Build out of him today.
Sorry if this seemed to much of a rant.
Get him bogged down in a big brood of gaunts. Then hit him with a CC pumped Tyrant with lash whip guards. With +init, +ws, acid, toxic miasma & implant attacks most big things die fast. Or maybe a broodlord with a big retinue will give him a hard time.
This guy is easier to beat than he first seems.
You have omitted, or had omitted from the description his greatest flaw.
He must charge the nearest target.
Drawing him into the combat is easy as he cant restrain himself and has to charge you.
Place something nice and cheap (a small gaunt brood maybe?) inside his charge range and turn one watch him barrel into your lines unsupported, even go as far as to give him first turn maybe.
The gaunts will die (Boo Hoo) and then you attack him with Stealers, Tricked out tyrants, Render-death Warrior broods and the like.
By the time the rest of his army arrives the beserker lord will be nothing more than toothpickings and you can tear into the rest of them.
Also, Collar of Khorne protects against Psi-Attacks, Chaos Rune prevents Instant Death, I think.
I had a friend you liked to use this, but as a demon Prince as wielder. Till i started using a tooled up Seer Council as the lure and butchering the prince for little to no loss.
Ask not a question of the eldar, for they will give you three answers all of which are true and horrifying to know.
ahhhh the eldar seer council, the cure-all for big scary things. Yea, collar of korne just helps you against psychic abilities, not instakills. For these big scary deamon princes and the like, I prefer stealers and generally anything with rending (although last time i went against one, he didn't have the collar. My thropes turned said deamon prince into a deamon puddle on turn 1).
Chaos rune makes him immune to insta kill. And then just be glad he didn't make the type that can get around 10 attacks on a charge.... He does look like a pain to fight, though. THe collar nullifies wb, so you'll have to use fex VCs and hope he fails a save, or make a really tough fex and assault him. Khorne d00ds always assault the nearest unit, right?*too lazy to get my csm dex) Regardless, if you can hit him with an s-10 attack and he fails his armor sv (most likely 2+) or his inv (4+), he's dead. Good luck. I'd suggest stealers with implant attack. People say they work well.

I've found that a DP is easilly brought down by a tyrant with Implant Attack since every failed Invuln = 2 wounds and so you only need to wound him twice. Even better, give him/her/it Acid Maw (if you can) for reroll wounds goodness.
Ah, I see.
He also has that "feel no pain" roll he gets to make. Its not that bad, trusting your lfe to a 4+ is not exactly fun, but with a 3+ before that, its tough. Thanks for the Info and the corrections of some of my more careless mistakes.
Looks like I'll finally be able to able to put my 3 stealer broods to good use....
Word of caution on Feel No Pain. Khorne berzerkers cannot take this (maybe they can if the army is dedicated to khorne). Also you don't get a FNP roll against anything that doesn't give you an armor save. Just a heads up in case you didn't knowOriginally Posted by Hivefleet Mordacii

First a few reminders.
1. He can't have 2 special movemments, this is mentioned in the chaos codex, so no 30"move in one turn.
2. Implant Attack is your friend here, use it to knowck down his wounds.
3. As mentioned before FnP does not work against hits that ignore armoursave, so your Tyrants still get's to wack him.
4. Broodlords are perfect for dealing with pesky HQ's.
almost always goes first and a dead model cant attack jack. the broodlord takes people (HQ) to school bruce lee style old school.Originally Posted by Dreachon
