Another idea I came up with was to take (3) Tyrant Guard and mutate one to carry a VC instead of his spine fists. That's (2) S7 shots. Since he's tagging along with the HT, that makes two VCs in the brood with a total of 5 shots.

This ends up being a 25 point mutation (but the VC itself is free right? So that's a fairly inexpensive weapon upgrade, really). So that Guard model costs 70 points. Plus another 90 for the two other ones in the brood. Plus whatever the HT ends up being.

As long as I keep the total number of species in my army to 6 or less, this is legal. Which isn't too tough since I'm not using gaunts of any kind.

I could maybe go something like this:

(1) Hive Tyrant (VC, Talons, bunch o' biomorphs, some psi) - 186 pts.
(3) Guard (1 w/ VC) - 160 pts.
(1) Carnifex (Talons x2)- 114 pts.
(1) Lictor - 80 pts.
(2) Biovores - 124 pts.
(7) Genestealers - 112 pts.
(7) Genestealers - 112 pts.
(7) Genestealers - 112 pts.
-----------------------------------------
Total: 1000 pts.

That is incorrect.

The only two creatures in theentire codex that cannot be a mutant are Old One Eye and the Red Terror.

Even genofixed species can be "one-off" mutants, they just aren't a mutable species (i.e., they don't have a break-down of variant ways of building them).

Its also possible to make a Mutant tyrant, but its rather difficult. You could only have 2 species. i'd go with 2 of these tyrants and a but load of genestealers.
But the Mutated Tyarant Guard sound really neat. i'd love to see them

Its an interesting idea, especially since you can fire at two different targets if you like.

Biovores don't need synapse, just a little luck.
