Welcome to Librarium Online!
Tyranid Warriors are an essential part to any tyranid army(especially an all warrior army)
so i just opened this thread to talk 'bout Tyranid Warriors in particular, what you think 'bout them, their tactics, biomorphs, etc.
I think there's been a thread on nid warriors already, but I'll put some of my imput on them.
I find warriors are best suited as cc beasts. I usually set mine up like this:
They cost 35 points each and are very effective at taking down tanks and supporting my gaunts. I have never used shooty warriors very well and I find them expensive, but I do like devourers. Has anyone found a good set up for warriors with devourers?
in a brood of 5(ideal size for me), thats 20 str 4 shots and there still somewhat cheap, or you can take twin-linked devourers instead if you think there not getting into combat
....we can't give the Warriors scuttle......
but maybe giving your CC warriors wings could help a little too....and tag them up with a winged Tyrant...just a thought
You know thinking again....
...putting wings on those 5 warriors with claws and talons. and moving a winged tyrant with that squad would be rather scary.....almost like having winged Guardians
also another thing to think about
1 with VC
2 with Deathspitters
2 with Devourers
mix those with a winged tyrant with a VC and you would have a decent force....with that combo you are liable to take some decent rounds in your tyrants direction... try to manuever your squad out of LOS of any big guns.
Having the weapons in the squad will give you some range to at least throw a few rounds back at them....Deathspitters can be havoc on shooty squads.....and then charging into close combat you will have up to 20 attacks...15 of which have rending......yucky!!!!

I prefer to have each squad of warriors have a purpose (tank hunting, infantry mowing, ect.). IMO mixing different guns together doesn't work as well as staying on task. Also VCs are decent ranged weapons, but warriors with talons and RCs kill more marines. The problem is getting them there.Originally Posted by gunslinger2005
maybe lictors could work as long as you stay out of LOS with the opponent by turn three, then send them in to tie up units
The idea behindbeing able to shoot is so that they can at least rain some rounds down on a squad....I took out all but 3 SMs out of a squad with my squad of 6 warriors 1 with VC and the other 5 with deathspitters...and that was round 1........while the talons will give you one extra attack it really is only one extra attack...just moving and not being able to do anything with them could be dangerous.....your opponent could notice that they have rending claws and direct their attacks right at you....and yeah having leaping would help....but it will still take you a while to get it across the boardat least 2 turns to be able to assault.....
And for the Lictors.......they are great tank busters....there is nothing better then the look on your opponents face when your Lictors appear right next to one of his tanks......can you say yucky. Let that space marine general hide his HQ inside that tank
I personally run 5 warriors with EC, RC, ST & leaping. If I am fighting marines & have a few points spare I add WS & init which costs 40 points each. I think that hitting first on 3+ is better than wounding on 3+.
I am painting some shooty warriors with EC, ST, ES & TX. They have: 1 VC, 2 DS & 1 Devs. If I was to remodel them I would have 1 VC, 1 DS & 2 Devs. With the 3' template you have to be real lucky to hit more than 3 models and you only get 1 shot (so miss half the time). On the positive side they can penetrate light armour so it complements your VC.
Also not a good idea to be too choosy....especially if you dont know who you are going up against......I make it a point not to tell my opponents what i am bringing to the table....i have changed my army so many times that it forces the guys i play with to have a balanced army which is better for me in the long run.
well... im thinkin 'bout making my Tyranid Warriors in my TYRANID WARRIOR ARMY cheaper,
maybe then my opponents might be scared, especially SMurfs when i outnumber him in models...
