I'm very very new to Necron to the stage I haven't even bought any yet, however, after taking a browse through the codex I noticed that the Monolith can Deepstrike.

Earlier that day I was also reading a few articles about VoD and Immortals so noticed you can Deepstrike and fire within one turn. Four hours later it clicked, "What about Deepstriking with a Monolith and using the D6 attacks to crisp a big chunk of an army?".

So my next coherant thought, (happened about 20 minutes later  ), was "Hey I know where I should ask!" and so I'm here.

I realise this tactic would be terrible against a spread out army but against someone with a large batch of troops in a small area (2 foot square max range on the Flux Arc), it might just be enough to cause a bit of a problem.

Anyone tried this or have any opinions on this or had this used against them or anything?

you may be able to kill lots of stuff right then but then their army can shoot with every thing that can hit the monolith and it will most likley be destroyed

00:12:50-) (+Hard_Aun|sleepage) anyway, three months back i got out of bed and came downstairs loud, fast and naked with a club

Yes you can deep strike and fire with the gauss flux arc and if you try it without supporting the monolith it will rapidly get stir-fried,trust me I did this against an Imperial Guard army once and despite having a full squad of warriors step out of the monolith's portal, there was nothing left a turn later-it's argueably the thoughest vehicle you can get,but there is a limit to how much punishment it can take.

Not to mention the chance of losing the monolith when you deepstrike.
It's not Raymond Luxury Yacht, It's pronounced throat wobbler mangrove.

Not sure what you mean here. Are you talking about from being under fire after a deepstrike?

The double-'1' rule still applies to the 'lith...

not to mention deviation... one can assume that if you get the 'lith early on, that the biggest clump of army will be near a board edge.
