Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just got done playing one of my friends guard army last night. Are kannons suppose to be that powerful? Did gw mess up their stats in the weapons sheet? Three ord templates, from each squigoth, each turn, annilated his whole 2000 pt army in two turns. We were both unsure if the large blast template was used, however the entry for the battle cannon had the same description so we thought it did. were we wrong, or are kannons now broken?
You played it wrong, the kannons uses the rules for ord when firing the frag round, scatter +D6 if LoS, however it still uses th small blast template.
ok maybe, but arn't ig battle cannons listed as ord 1 blast?
kannons use the small blast template when firing their frag round, was he using the large one by accident?
There very strong units. But don't give em' too much credit. I watched a game of Orks vs. DE where the ork player had 2 squigs. The DE player killed em' both and slaughtered the army. It was amazing. But then again I've seen many more games where the squigs kill everything in sight.
There was a debate about this a few threads ago. The codex description for kannon says to use the small blast. The Ork Codex FAQ gives stats for the kannon frag round on the weapon summary sheet. I won't say the stats but I will say that its type is listed as: Ord 1 Blast. The FAQ surpasses the codex. To me for the frag round you use the ordance rules which uses the large blast. You must have LOS because it is not a barrage weapon.
I've been on this forum for ages now, and have seen this in waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many threads.
Shell round: gets 2D6 (pick highest) armour penitration, and rolls on the ordnance penetrating hit table. NO template, needs a roll to hit as usual.
Frag round: SMALL blast template, roll D6 for scatter, no roll to hit needed.
Hope that clears it up (finally)

Fair enough. I always thought is was like how you said. The kannon doesn't seem big enough(stat wise) for large blast. A while back I had basicly quoted what you said but somebody said I was wrong. It felt like he was being pretty rude too. Sorry for the mistake.
