    The way of using them in 3rd Edition changed when 4th Edition came out, that's all. 4th Edition pretty much screwed up the way they were used, at least from what I can tell.

    They're almost 100% useless, IMO. If you just want extra wounds, get Gun Drones, who might also pin/damage the enemy.

    Or, you could just not bother with drones, which will save you loads of headache.
    Well, with suits, at least. They're not worth it. They count for morale, average save and toughness and generally make a pain for everybody.

    There aren't any yet. They're on the way, with the new Tau 1.5-ish codex.

    Ummm, I think they may be refering to the tau faq that states that the shield drones must follow majority toughness and save rules, meaning if you have more suits, that they take wounds first.

    Probably on the GW site in the Tau section. Just look for the FAQ's.

    I looked it up.

    essentially it doesn't hurt them too much, as long as you only give them to characters (army general/units with only 1 member). Small pt mech tau armies aren't really hurt by this because it's far better to seperate crisis suits to max out yoru elites. the shield drones will have the majority, so you keep the 4+ invulnerable till both die. True your toughness goes down for your crisis, but if you stick your general out in the open infront of a squad of bolters rapid firing on you... you get the point.

    plus it won't hurt me much ^^;;
    The store I play at tends to add a bit more realism to the games, so when new rules that basically completely contridict what should happen are added, we usually reach an agreement between all of us to play with the old rule for that situation. doesn't turn up much, but it still helps.

    btw, please help with my army list:

    It hurts both your Crisis' Toughness and Save...

    Shield Drones aren't worth it. If you're absolutely bent on getting Drones with your 'Suits, get Gun Drones who have a chance of hurting the enemy.

    Bolters still allow a 3+ save, and I'd rather have that than a 4+ save vs. bolters...
