Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hail fellow Tau commanders!
I recently purchased and perused the new core rule book for 40k, yay for me and my barren wallet!
Anyway...I was very happy to finally be able to read the Kill-Team rules.
I was not happy with how limiting it can be to Tau players IMO.
Seeing as how I'm a n00b, I assume I believe this solely through my ignorance.
Thus I ask that you, my more experienced brethren, shed some light on the "Tau-Kill-Team"
The Kroot KTeam seems very nice, except I would much prefer a Kroot-less kill team. I'm thinking a modified Pathfinder team would be my best bet...but with the way the rules are set up, which I admit I'm sketchy on knowing thoroughly, I couldn't equip them with anything but Carbines and some Rail-Rifles!
Kill-Team to me, seems to be very against the Tau...our Brutes are Gun-Drones which can't be modified at all, can't use many of the special rules, and with only 3 units a squad, have a terrible leadership!
Our actual Kill Teams are limited by the Codex and so almost none of our units have "variable" weapons configs, due to the exclusion of anything with 2 or more wounds. Stealth team's seem to be thrown out as well since they use a weapon that can fire more than twice a round...
I feel moderately gipped...
I await your KTeam reports to lighten my possibilties of fielding a Tau Kteam.

what's a kill team???
I take stealth suits with a Shas'vre and drones. I won two lictors at a Games Workshop event for winning a big kill team mission and killing a lictor in the mission. I think steakth suits make a great kill team, mine once killed 3 tyranid warriors, 7 genestealers, 6 guants and one lictor in one mission.
What would you do if a Carnifex "meow'ed" at you.
Some pictures of my models
Okay, I knew I could take weapons that shot over twice a round, I just didn't know if they got the bonus points for every weapon like that...
So lets see...
5 Tau Stealth team with Shas'vre? That's 160...

Stealths are better than Fire warriors, 160pts means 16 of them and no squad of 3 anything will stand up to 32 s5 shots.
Plus as brutes in a kill team its awful.....wahoo 25 extra points to buy a markerlight for my shas'ui.
Kill team rules could really do with some changes a friend and i recently played them like Scaeffers last chancers, e.g sub units and allowed greater flexibility on heavy equipment for the brutes (when would you find 50 Guardsmen without so much as a flamer?).
As for competivity someone recently wanted a competative game with kill team, I took 3 Killer Kans, his boss got lots more stuff but still.....
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
My Codex says that Stealth suits are 30 points each...thus 30x5=150+10('vre)=160...Originally Posted by Wings of Doom
Pathfinders wouldn't be very good.
Markerlights = Heavy weapons. Only a single model can have a Heavy weapon. Rail Rifles, too. These are the Immutable laws (but I'd play with Immutable laws being mutable..just adds more flavor, IMO).
As for Mutable laws...a Stealth Team would break Mutable Law #5 five times (with five suits). Giving your enemy 50 points for a Boss Brute + 5 extra brute squads.
However, no Brute Squad is going to survive 30 shots from a Stealth Team...30 shots vs. 3 models. *snicker*
EDIT: It'd also be interesting using these new units we've all been coming up with...Exoskeletons, Veterans, things like that, to add some flavor.
Ah, that...kinda blows...Originally Posted by Lost NemesisDangit, that's what I thought!Originally Posted by Lost Nemesis
Giving the enemy 50points and 5 extra squads...wow...that is one expensive kill team...
Um...LN? Wouldn't 5 Stealths be 3 x 5, thus 15 shots? Or do Assault weapons also follow Rapid Fire rules within 12"? Then it would 30 shots...but as far as I know that isn't the case...
